  • My girl got me a coffee machine for my birthday... a delonghi icona. It was a bit of a surprise but boy am i happy with it.

That's what I have. I've not got a good coffee out of it yet*... I'd be interested to hear how you got on with the monmouth espresso blend.

*I'm being picky and also haven't used it in a few months, so hopefully I'm just remembering wrong.

  • Opened up shop on Saturday, got some photos from a customer

  • aarnio? ,,,, thats a bit slick aint it?

  • had one of the best cups of coffee in London the other day, thought I should share.
tapped and packed on rathbone place, that pokey little place near the post office depot with the black awning with '26' on it
had an incredible cappuccino, and am now hooked. their espresso on offer is EXCELLENT, and always beautifully handled and prepared - not like flat white or milk bar, where it really depends on who serves you, and is generally a bit hit and miss.

  • Found this baby in a place called panella, amazing bakery.
    oh boy.

Similar in size and style to the one(s?) in The Bridge on Kingsland Rd under the railway bridge.

Hipsterriffic but I liked the coffee the last time I was there.

Just bought a percolator - it came with a picture of a giant cock on the side of the box.

Yeah, that's the advantage of renting a corner of a snazzy furniture shop - the customers can buy the chair they've been sitting in when they've finished their coffee. I get kitted out with Saarinen tulip tables and chairs as part of the deal.

  • sweet arrangement :-) well done.

    Great name.

    Happy from Peel.

  • Y0. Anyone got any recommendations for supermarket coffee that doesn't taste like utter filth? I've picked up some Union Hand Roasted on the advice of a friend and as a result I no longer speak to that friend.

Any other options that aren't truly vile?

  • I'm no connoisseur but the Sainsburys TtD stuff seems to be pretty palatable comming from my cafetiere.

  • I think they use Union at Cafe Freddo in Ealing and I really like it. Of course, they'd be going from beans not ground coffee. Also might be different blend in their little baggies. I'll give it a short when I've used up my current stock.

  • In supermarkets i always go with illy. gives you nice tin to keep beans in when you realised that supermarket coffee never is as good

  • There's a great one that M&S do actually, but unfortunately I don't have any large supermarket chains near me - I was thinking ones that I could pick up from Costcutter or the like.

  • Maybe I'll give the Union another go - I just went for the first fairtrade one I saw.

  • Anyone tried Square miles autumn Espresso blend?? Look fucking awesome

  • Bicycle forum coffee thread - meet coffee forum bicycle thread.

  • Where I work has no coffee shops nearby, I can't be arsed with cafetieres either. People are gonna hate on this but the starbucks via sachets are actually ok, so much better than instant.

Saves me riding through town with one hand on my bars and the other on a coffee.

  • TKMaxx is doing a bunch of interesting coffees at £1 a pack at the mo. Why knows why, but I got some Columbian weird stuff in a wee cardboard box yesterday, and it's really really nice. Which is nice...

  • It's very wrong in an environmental way but my current batch of pre-ground was mailed to me from a friend in Trevisio. I haven't had coffee this good since I was in Udine earlier in the year.

  • I'm going to Monmouth tomorrow to get preground for my cafetiere, any recommendations or should I just go for whatever is on offer?

Also, will I be ok getting 2 weeks worth or should I just get enough for 1?

  • ^ tell them what you like and ask them to recommend something, they've always given me good stuff

If you can go back in 1 week rather than 2 to get more, I'd do that. The fresher the better
