  • yep, bikes/beer/coffee. opening day TODAY!

oh and wifi! and food! i think this might be the mythical freelancers shangri-la! and two blocks away from my house!!!

  • Well, beer, coffee AND bikes.. spice route trap if ever I saw one. If I wasn't on the bike I'd stop in to watch some racing.

  • Haha spice route trap. Why didn't they name it that?

In unrelated news, my Silvia came the other day. Got myself down to Monmouth earlier and got my first taste of real home espresso. Happy.

  • sounds like a great place, gotta check it out. really miss not being able to get a good coffee and a beer at the same place in this town, don't really know why places never get that

    +1

They do it right in europe where you can go to what is first and foremost a coffee bar but get a beer or a glass of red if you fancy it. Need this.

  • yes indeed. And my yet to fail hangover cure, 'the four drink regime'

1 large glass freshly pressed orange juice
    1 can coke
    1 double esspresso
    1 can beer

it's freshen up, then some up and then some even more up, and finally round the corners off with beer, and you're ready for another day. Or night, which tends to be the case

If you can cure a hangover with that shit you clearly aren't drinking enough.

  • bombcup, you really shouldn't have shown me that gas flame vacuum pot thing. Pyromaniac + coffee making = oh fuck.

  • You not got a vac pot?

    Man up FFS

  • I think I'd be too tempted to cook up amphetamines with it..

  • so that's what makes a big aussie lump so quick?

  • Speed + Vegemite =

jk: no drugs other than caffeine were consumed to win this trophy

  • Picked up my Gaggia Classic today, though it's unlikely to come out of the box until Tuesday as i'm living in work or uni for the next few days. Bollocks.

  • looks like here:
    Viet Baguette 14 Charlotte Place, London W1T 1SW 0207 998 3521
is where I'll be going for lunch then....

you'll be disappointed if you do - it's not open any more.

isn't this place run by guys from the forum?

  • if they are, that's some 100% top notch feedback up there

  • I'm well on the way to persuading the office to spend £700 odd on a new coffee machine / grinder setup. Think we finally have a critical mass of people who "won't put up with this shit no more".

    Exciting times.

Question is, what to buy? From previous experience, I'm thinking Rancilio Silvia machine & grinder. any thoughts?

  • rancilio silvia + mazzer mini is full of win

yeah. flat white with badly poured rosetta... i'm not the total expert that lots of you are, but the milk wasn't textured very well and the shot was a bit mealy. city roasters though, so there's potential. they just need to get a barrista who knows what they're doing in there. maybe i'll stick to tea until they sort that out.

otherwise, the place is great to work in. sunny and bright, good wifi, lots of space and you don't feel like a dick for taking up a table for a long time, nice staff, pretty good food (though odd selection). i think i'm going to like having it around the corner.

  • teddy, why not keep the table and i'll try and persude some of 9-5 forumengers to descend on you at beer-o-clock?

  • fine, bollocks to you all then. i'm going home to raid the fridge and have crying kneeling wank.

  • Sounded like a good idea.

  • ah, sorry. i'm out of there now. come by the duke of york though... heading there now for a pint.
