Aren't moka like tea pots, they should be rinsed but never washed?
-
• #19128
You make stuff with delicate aromatics in them and old coffee oils rot, please wash all your kit every time.

Awesome. Thanks.

Same with teapots - tanins build up and taste disgusting.
Although it probably won't make much difference to a mug of tetley.

Tetley is bilge. Only PG tips is worse.

Anyone got experience of one of these? Whats your feelings?
-

It's good. All the pros use one because being able to do a consistently really good manual pour over is a lot of work.
If you like the idea of it get it.

I'd love to own one but I don't have the space in my kitchen, also it's a dangerous amount of coffee to have available ready made if you're the only one drinking it in your house.

Yes my favourite brewer. I use one at home and a double one for batch brew in the shop.

Anyone have experience with an Isomac Maverick?
Got the opportunity to pick one up for what sounds like a decent price - it’d be used as a stop gap until I can find a nice lever machine. Purely for espresso, milk drinks just not my thing any more.
Thoughts?

Isomac Maverick?
Looks very similar to the Sette machine in James Hoffman’s sub £500 machine review. I see la pavoni also do a very similar looking machine - all 3 seem to have a cost of £340-60.
Think it’s a decent enough machine.

FFS
Twice now I've tried to buy a Europiccola, and both times the seller has cancelled after a couple of days.
Does anybody live in Germany that wouldn't mind forwarding on a coffee machine?

I'd completely forgotten about this. Is it this weekend?

Similarly got my tasting pack in the post today having forgotten about it - looking forward to it, I might even treat myself to some new cups...

Has anyone tried these guys? Also 30% off when you sign up to their newsletter, gonna but a couple of bags I think, what's the harm.
-
• #19146
Thanks man - I’ll go watch that review.

Ok? Seems to hose coffee everywhere rather than just burble out. Maybe too high heat?
-
• #19148
Too fine a grind, or over-tamped coffee?
What size is it - I've never found the 6 or 9 cup moka pots to be anything other than rubbish.
-
• #19149
It's not tamped at all and it's just shop bought ground coffee so doesn't appear to be too fine. By shop I mean supermarket not posh cafe.
Puly caff is worth having if you have an espresso machine but it’s exactly the same stuff that dishwasher tablets are made of so you could crush one of those up for a one-off.
