I get pretty hard water here (Leyton), so I didn't expect the filter to last an age but I had hoped it would be a bit longer.
I've only just ordered replacement filters, would be interested to know if new ones sort the whiff out!
The whole unit smells pretty chemically - I'm sure they had to keep costs down but it's a shame it all feels a bit cheap.

I'd definitely be interested

New Hario drip jug thingy looks great, my kettle doesn't do a very good job of pouring over so this looks like an excellent, cheap solution...

Personally I'm not sold. Definitely reckon going for a metal stovetop gooseneck kettle is the way to go. Hario's Buono all the way! (also, it comes in black, surely that wins out for you!)
Be interested to see what the price on that is though.

Don't mention the scales, don't mention the scales

Bought a pressure gauge to mod my Gaggia classic, 12bar currently, opened it all up and rounded the nut in the valve...
Tits.
This after I mid read the instructions on my new Bonts and baked them for 20mins at 160 degrees C and not F..
New Boas on the way to replace the melted ones
Such a twat

I don't wanna buy a gooseneck kettle tho', I would only consider it if my regular kettle stopped working... I'm getting one, perfect solution for me... Didn't the Hoff say they were only twelve quid or summat?
-
• #18258
I think that was the price in Japan, will likely be more expensive when exported I imagine.

I'll get one if you can microwave them. Which Hoff didn't mention. I feel like in all his reviews he misses an important aspect of the thing.
You could probably get a metal goose neck for twelve pounds from Ali express if you were so inclined though. I actually got a temp controlled goose neck for thirty something I think so I think the savings in space and clutter are the main ones there.
Could also try and import the silicon orphan espresso pourer

I have had a weird smell coming off mine and stopped using it until the new filter arrived. Gave it a good clean and installed the new filter and haven't noticed anything since.

Bit of a cross-post with the 3D printing thread... I asked about getting a shallower drip tray printed for my Gaggia Classic: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/188924/?offset=100#comment15326185 which has been done elsewhere.
@Stonehedge has kindly offered to look into this, but wondered whether there might be others interested?
A bulk order would have the benefit of coming in matching black :)
A quick update on this. I'm not entirely certain that my printer will be able to handle a flat part of this size. I'm going to run a test print in PETG today to see if I can dodge the ABS warping issue.
A quick glance at the design shows that each copy will cost about £4 in plastic and P&P will likely be £3.
First things first though, need to see if I can actually make the thing in a way that looks good. Don't want to make people a part that looks like shit.

I've ordered the Peak and should be getting it in the next couple of weeks. Chemical fishy smells aren't exactly filling me with hope. Anyone had positive experience with them? Improved flavours?

I was initially pretty impressed - coffee tasted much cleaner and more rounded than tap, though I'm not sure how much better than my Brita.
I was hoping it would have an edge in terms of filter lifespan, but I'll wait to see how the replacement performs.
(In it's defense it's been pretty heavily used in lockdown.)

I bought one on here, and had that issue. The water tasted really metallic after a few weeks and i noticed a smell, when i opened it up the loamy stuff in the filter had gone moldy.

I was about to offer it for freecycle but i imagine no-one will be interested now

Sure, makes sense! And certainly the cost isn’t an issue for me (lots of interest, looks like it escalated pretty quickly!).

Hnnnnnng. I wasn't going to. I was going to save @Stonehedge the additional work by printing my own but I'm not going to be back on site to do my own until probably after September. It's a bit cheeky as the list is getting big and the print is loooong, but if there's any chance...

Actually, I was going to have a look at remodelling it to have a finger cutout in the bottom for easier in/out fingering and see if I could reduce the amount of plastic in the print before I did mine. @Engineering101 have you got a link to the thingiverse, er, thing and I'll see if I can modify it? I have a legit Solidworks licence, unlike Hambini.

I have a legit Solidworks licence
Very jealous, I'm not sure how I'll live without my NX license after I graduate in a couple of weeks. Need to convert all of my hobby stuff into accessible formats too, should have thought ahead.

Prepare to sharpen pitchforks...
Large insulated keep cup that is dishwasher safe. Slightly off topic as it’s to be used for tea but thought this thread was most likely to have an answer.

I've enjoyed using the Nespresso Touch Travel Mug it keeps stuff very hot and can happily be dishwashed.

How about a KeepCup? The larger, insulated, dishwasher safe version
