Gaggia Classic/Dualit grinder.
Fuck nose. I don't really know enough about them. Mebbe the offer of a spliff will attract someone who does to have a go...

Used a balloon whisk to get air into the milk whilst it was heating. Obviously, you won't get micro-foam, but it does froth quite nicely as long as you put some effort in.
These days, however, our kitchen features a Gaggia Classic (those wand attachments are rubbish!), so no more frother's elbow.

You grind your own beans?
I found that when I got my beans ground in-store* it pumped out far too quick on my Gaggia Cubika (assuming that's what you still have), even as you say, after tamping the shit outta it.
Once I got my own grinder, I was able to experiment until I found the right consistancy for a good flow.
We had the same problem, but we just got an Ascaso mini, and the results are lovely.

some interesting stuff
· **A cup of coffee contributes to daily fluid intake **and is recognised by the Food Standards Agency and British Dietetic Association as a source of fluid in our diets (3, 4, 5)
· Many large studies looking at the general population have shown that moderate coffee intake is not associated with any increase in the risk of heart disease- a study published in June 2008 showed that women who drank 3 cups of coffee a day were 25% less likely to die from heart disease (6, 7, 8)
· Coffee has demonstrated a protective effect against cognitive declineand certain other neurological disorders; research shows that coffee consumption is associated with a decreased risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease (9, 10, 11, 12)
· Coffee has been shown to have a protective effect in the liver; a 71% lower risk of developing liver cirrhosis was found in subjects drinking three or more cups of coffee each day (13), whilst an increase in 2 cups of coffee per day has been associated with a 43% reduced risk of liver cancer (14)
· Coffee may help prevent the development of type 2 diabetes, people who drink 4 or more cups of coffee each day have been found to have a 67% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes (15, 16) -

We're opening a cafe which has a workshop and are looking for a competent barista with good bike knowledge. Ideally a friendly rosetta pouring individual who loves riding their bike and knows a headset from a Bottom Bracket. This is us www.lookmumnohands.com and our job ad is here: www.londoncoffeejobs.co.uk

Saw this place in a Qype email..
Tapped & Packed opened yesterday to a social media flurry, and without a single logo or sign up they are already getting some serious foot traffic. Keen on supporting local independent business, in the coming weeks you can expect to find out about their local bakers, as well as the clever ideas they have for their chocolate supplier, Chokio.
Artists and photographers themselves, the staff behind T&P won't be wasting wall space. They will be taking submissions ideas via their website, and every two months a bohemian will win an opening night and wall space to show their creations.
Another twist is that Victor has created the only cafe with more than one coffee supplier, in fact he is sourcing three (Climpson and Sons, Square Mile and Union) in order to provide the perfect coffee for each method, from cafetiere to areopress to siphon (siphon? a bunsen burner looking thing!).

After reading this thread I'm going to head out here later: http://www.artisanroast.co.uk/
Completely useless information to you London lot, but definitely the best coffee in Edinburgh that I've found so far.

When? I don't need a job (and I'm not a barista) but it sounds like an interesting place.

Tinderbox is the best in my opinion. There's on on Byres Road, on on Ingram Street (the best one I think) and one in Princes Square. Beanscene is also good. There are quite a few of them about the place.
