Ta. Fairly sure I saw some kind of fancy looking brush somewhere when I was buying it but perhaps imagined it. Leaving something to soak is exactly my preferred type of cleaning.

I have a glass keep cup and a kleen kanteen. Love the kleen kanteen one! Rarely use the keep up, sometimes for breakfast 😆 kleen kanteen stuff is super well made, and lasts really well. I have a bunch of stuff I've had for years, use daily, have dropped etc and it's still going strong!

Yup, PulyCaff / Cafiza. Use a good shake of it and fill with boiling water, leave overnight. Might take a couple of goes if its a bit smelly.
My carafe managed an impressive half kilometer on the roof of the car before being jettisoned at a roundabout last week. Still kept us in hot coffee for the journey. Replacement is £55.

Another vote for Kleen Kanteen here - I've just bought a smaller one to take with me if commuting by train

I have a couple of klean kanteens but just for cold drinks. 1 x 800ml shiny metal one for daily use and 1 x 2000ml for days out. It's the business. Mrs CYOA picked up a 750ml S'Well which does hot drinks and is great.

Is there anything else I should be looking out for the same second hand price range as the Rancililio Silva, or is it the best in that area. Are the sage duo temps compatible?

I have a keep cup, but prefer the acme upper cup, double walled, keeps the coffee warmer and is easier to clean. Can get it in two sizes, and you can buy it up at caravan in kings cross..

I don't like the lids on the upper cup, it's always a pain. I think keepcup do an insulated version now (long play?) but possibly only in the larger sizes. The kleen kanteen tumble is insulated too, sometimes it's a little too good 😄

No-one needs anything bigger.

Yeah! That's what I have, and I was pretty skeptical when I first got it, but I love it. I always recommend it 👌

I keep mine at work and never use the lid so haven’t had any issues with it. Not even sure I know where it actually is.

James Hoffman gave a pretty good review of the sage stuff and I think I read something similar on coffee forums about it.

[Swedish egg coffee]
I did a try. It was actually quite good!
Bit of a waste of an egg though, so for that reason I probably won't do it again.

Without me having to read thru over 500 pages, what's good decaf?
My mum had a heart accident last month, super scary but she was lucky and now needs to slowly go back to normal life as much as possible. She needs to stop caffeine though (or at least reduce). Like most people in France my parents drink filter coffee. Any suggestion welcome, I'm going there soon and if I found something nice will take some for them to try. -

Dark Arts coffee do decaff and can grind how you want it?
I'd also try Hasbean and ask Yellow Bouborn if they do decaff as they do awesome coffee.

After drilling out the portafilter of my pre-millenium Pavoni with a holesaw I can closely inspect the way the coffee leaves the basket. And I regularly get these "rogue jets" of coffee that seem to sort of find a way through the puck without much resistance. Can be seen on the left around the 7 second mark in this video:

Could it be my tamping technique? Or do I need a finer grind?

Gleaming, thanks all.

Poor distribution of the grounds before tamping often causes channelling and those spurts.
-
• #14373
Might well be it, it tends to heap up towards one of the edges. I'll try distributing the coffee evenly before tamping. Cheers.

Most decent roasters I know of do a good decaf. Square Mile definitely do, as do Dark Arts as Caz says. I imagine Monmouth do too.

Anyone have an recommendations for a bean to cup coffee machine? My parents are looking to replace their capsule machine but wan't something with similar convenience. Can they get anything decent for sub £600? Cheers!
Get some Caffetto/Cafiza or similar espresso cleaner and give it a good soak. Shouldn’t need to scrub
