They don't seem to ship outside of UK. Shot them an email though, I'm keen on trying out new coffee :)

Yeh absolutely, had a few emails back and forth and he's been really helpful.
@danslecarton hopefully he'll be able to sort you out and send something over for you.

just got a hario pouring kettle. runthrough/links to your collective favourite v60 methods please?
-
• #14305
This was the first one I used for a v60: Matthew Perger
I also think that jimseven's and Scott Raos' methods have been discussed on this thread before -
• #14306
thanks. where should v60 grind sit compared to espresso?
-
• #14307
Cous Cous consistency is what I aim for.
I've read differing opinions on the definitive method for pour over - measurements always seem fairly consistent though, so 60g/1l.

• #14308
Depends entirely on your grinder I guess but I do v60 not far from what Tenderloin says. Maybe a fraction finer than cafetiere grind (although that is subjective too!)

when i make an aeropress at work it always tastes much better than at home - same coffees, same hand grinder, same fairly random quantities and process. work use the "filtered hot water taps" (hot, cold and fizzy water from the same unit), so im guessing thats making the difference when compared to tap water at home
likely?
if so, whats the forum recommended water filter?
-
• #14310
Would also suggest temperature of the water would be something worth considering. Does it come out a few degrees below boiling from the work tap? And are you pouring off the kettle or letting it cool at home? And if so by how long?
-
• #14311
The filtered tap will likely be effective at softeneing the water and removing unwanted temporary hardness cleaning up the taste.
We use BWT filters at work, and I got one of their home jugs for about £30. Really cleans up the regular tap water which then goes in my kettle, makes my coffee taste much better than before.

Not sure what temp the water at work is - but I’ve tried from boiling to slightly cooled off (eithering waiting or mixing in a splash of cold)
I’ll check out the bwt filter and see if it makes a difference
Cheers

It will almost certainly be the quality of the water
-
• #14314
The hot water on demand taps usually deliver one boiling cup followed by several slightly under boiling cups of water. So variance in temperature could definitely play a part.

This has happened with my Vario - pretty annoying to have happened after 4 months. Anyone else had a similar issue?
-
• #14316
nope sorry, sounds shit though. I have the burr removal tool if you want to borrow it to get at the innards. can grab from my office in clerkenwell next week.

I'm hoping should all be under warranty but the missus is in Tel Aviv so will have to wait until she gets back.

Second batch of Yellow Bourbon now ordered. My first order was mind-blowingly good.
@StevePeel - any stickers left?
-
• #14319
Ah nice one, thanks for the order. No YBCR stickers left, I’ll see if I can dig a Nitro one out.

I’ve got a hand held milk frother but it’s a bit of a ball ache. What’s a good cheap all in one milk frother to go for?
-
• #14321
Cheap or good, pick one. Bellman steamer makes proper latte art quality micro foam.

Interesting, stovetop then?
Have to investigate once/if our cheap electric goes. -
• #14323
Nice! We’ve got a whisk type one at the moment so that looks like a big improvement.

My favourite coffee shop in Liverpool, was sad to hear but they had a pop up elsewhere whilst essential works are undertaken on the shop: https://twitter.com/boldstcoffee/status/956141429784481825
They have just found a new home on Castle Street: https://bdaily.co.uk/articles/2018/02/21/new-lease-of-life-for-recently-closed-liverpool-coffee-shop
Bold Street Coffee will be open at Santa Maluco from Thursday (February 22), operating between 7.30am and 3.30pm on weekdays and 8.30am to 3.30pm on weekends.
He's a nice guy too, good for cycle chat. He's local to me, so I used to cycle to his house to get coffee.
