I’ve been watching it for a few years on and off and I don’t know why I do. Episode quality really depends on how well Seinfeld can “get on with” the comedian in that episode and the car aspect is woeful considering Seinfeld considers himself a big car collector, thinks he is really knowledgable about cars (he recently started a podcast about cars), and is pals with Leno.
My fave episode was the Louis CK one but now it’s been ruined for me due to the recent news of his sexual deviancy.
Also the coffee aspect is also terrible.

Windsor update: got a tip off for Craft Coffee House, Dad has been and says it was great.
Am in Ramsbottom so dropped in at Grind & Tamp, well worth a visit - had a lovely v60 of North Star Kenya Ragati PB.

In other coffee related news, I've noticed Oatly Barista has been out of stock pretty much consistently for last 8 weeks, heard whispers of production being unable to keep up with demand.
I saw @StevePeel had to put the price up on his oat milk drinks via IG, wonder if the oatly price has jumped due to demand.

Was back in Norfolk for Xmas and Norwich gets better every time I go back. The covered market now has loads of different food stalls, nice independent shops and lots of good coffee places. Grey Seal coffee are a roasters with 4 shops on the North Norfolk coast.
Having lived in London and Brighton I never thought I’d be tempted to move back but I’m contemplating it. For us would be a second home rather than a full move back.

The price hasn’t increased but the demand has. As per the post we thought we’d swallow the big loss of margin so as to include those who choose to or need to avoid dairy, but it turns out that people are choosing it because they like it or because it seems to have become some weird sort of symbol of sophistication, beacause whenever we’ve run out of it people just go for regular milk - beats me. So if someone just wants it, as opposed to needing it, and it costs 4x the price of regular milk then they’re going to have to pay for it.
I emailed them about the supply problem and it seems they’re overwhelmed by the popularity of the stuff and can’t keep up. I hope one of their competitors come up with an alternative and can deliver it in a professional manner, and without all the cuddly marketing bullshit that makes me puke. The Great Oat Milk Crisis of Winter 2017 has been a massive dick-about.

That's crazy how popular it has become, and just in case it didn't come across as such I felt your post/actions were completely reasonable and justified in the circumstances.
The only place I've been able to get my hands on it in real life since nov was waitrose by my office and when I asked they said the shelves are cleared of it as soon as it goes out. Even Ocado deliveries seem never to have it in stock. They tend to adjust stock based on when your delivery time is so if desperate I guess I could keep changing times until I find when it'll be re-stocked, but tbh I've mostly switched to black coffee for now so i can cut the calories out.

Kieran here has been using Provamel I think and seems to go down just as well

That would be my plan if I couldn’t have milk, not that I tend to choose milk drinks for the most part. You get delicious coffee without adding a stack of other flavour to it.
WRT the production shortfall, I’m surprised that they’re surprised given their massive marketing campaign.
I’m driving a 50 mile round trip to a wholesaler who has a stock of Oatly on Tuesday as customers are starting to divert to my competitors to get their Oatly coffee.

I need to recalibrate the burrs on my Vario grinder but it has the portafilter holder so I can't get to the adjustment nut. I also don't have the adjustment tool. Any help or guides ?
-
• #14114
I'll take it.
can meet near OXO one day when I'm not in Basingstoke.

Just tell me the day before so I can sling it in my bag, but I do need it gone so if someone else can grab it beforehand I'll let you know.

That's it really. I'd take a trip up there and see what you think. I took a bunch of mates up for New Years and they loved it.

If the supply runs completely dry you could soak sugar puffs in normal milk instead. no one would know the difference. :)

the portafilter holder just pulls out towards you, unless they've changed the design drastically.
burr recalibration is ->

tool is just a fancy 2mm allen key. you must have one in your bike box.

^ This, some guides tell you to take the grommet out behind that screw, and move the screw towards/away from you. There's no need, the above method is the simplest. Just make sure the grinder is running while you are doing the adjustments.
Recalibrated mine last week and it's running like a dream.

I think I have to do the reverse of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fp3jqmT0Mc
I'll give it a whirl this evening

the adjustment is inside that little hole in the top behind the grounds chute. may have a warranty sticker over it. no disassembly needed.

• #14124
Yeah, that's covered with the portafilter holder afaik. I'll check tonight

p.s love that you annotated the video :D
Seinfeld's 'Comedians in cars getting coffee' is now on netflix.
From the outset I was a downer on this show as it's a unapologetic blatant ripoff of welshy boy who played Kryten in Red Dwarf's show with the same format but Seinfeld being Seinfeld basically everyone was like 'well anyone can come up with that premise' which is a bit too 'well we're bigger than you so we're just going to take it and not give you anything'.
With that said though, the show is pretty good BUT (finally getting to the point it's being posted on the coffee thread and not the TV one) the coffee aspect is ridiculous. it's basically fetishising bad coffee, even the slow-mo, soft focus macro shots of coffee being made are all of terrible coffee being extremely badly made.
about 20 episodes in (one with Julia louise-dreyfus/Elaine) and they finally make it to a 3rd-wave coffee shop which serves a decent looking coffee and they even say "wow this is a great coffee" only to go on to complain it wasn't hot enough so they go up and complain and ask for it to be made hotter.
So yeah 'Comedians in cars getting [terrible] coffee' on netflix - 4/7
