Thor
RPM there's some very good advice and info on this forum, in fact if you can find any better I'd be surprised.
it's not here for us to bend over backwards to help lazy people who ask dumb questions, it's a community forum for people who ride bikes. It pisses me off when kids flip off over one post becuase they didn't get their own way, without even using google, let alone sheldon brown or fixed faqs etc..
how arrogant to assume that you can just demand help.
OK get your head outta your assssss
Who has demanded help here???
Not me ..not most who ask ...............you are just an arrogant "BIKE SNOB"
or am I misreading your posts??
if being a "BIKE SNOB" means knowing how many brakes should be on a freewheel bike, then yes I must be.
maybe if YOU took your head out of YOUR arse and actually bothered to find out the absolute basics of a working bicycle you might see that there's no snobishness, in fact we're concerned about the dangerous, illegal and overpriced bikes that are being touted. Nobody is going to take you to task over a safe, well put together bike.
Would you rather we lied just so as not to offend anyone? grow up.
As I say, kids come on here ask for feedback, then spit the dummy when they don't get what they wanted to hear.
Just like real life, deal with it.

dani2kuk Allright, it seems that u guys had all this energy to try and make me feel crap so I just wanna say thanks to the people that have actually been respectful enough to give me some positive criticisms, and for all the others I want u to know that I take pride in these babies although u might think they r crap but there is no need to be mean all tell strangers to fuck off..
I normally stay out of these things but seeing someone have a pop at Scott, who makes a real contribution to this forum, for sensibly making an entirely legitimate observation about how these brake levers were set up has pissed me off. Scott I know you're more than capable of looking after yourself so please forgive my interfering, but like I say it pissed me off. Dani2kuk wasn't posting here to ask for advice/comment about how he was putting together his own ride, if he had he probably would have been taher more gently advised that fitting a single speed bike with just one brake was unsafe and potentially lethal, he was instead advertising his deathtraps for sale, for his own personal profit, in the process risking others life. Why should we go easy on someone who through ignorance or greed is trying to use our forum to flog bikes that are unsafe and illegal to ride on the road?
dani2kuk I didnt know it was illegal to have only one brake.. I didnt know u d get offended if I was to call these bikes couriers.. And i didnt know my prices were so unreasonable by lookin at some o the prices that I ve checked in London anyway..
I personally don't care about your prices, anyone contemplating buying from you can draw their own conclusions, but the fact that you don't know what's road legal and isn't and clearly don't appreciate the practical (not aesthetic) difference between riding fixed and single speed demonstrates you're not remotely ready to be setting up fixed or single speed bikes for other people to ride, let alone charging them for it. The only customers you will attract are those who know less than you and by extension won't realise, until they end up under a bus, just how dangerous your bikes are. It appears to me that you've advertised here, calling your creations, "couriers" to give them a veneer of "street" credibility that is aimed at attracting those who are new to single speed/fixed riding and lurking here to learn more/decide which bike to buy as their first ride. Selling your bikes to such people, who won't know any better, is wrong and exploitative and an abuse of OUR forum, that is what is upsetting people. That you may be doing so through your own ignorance is absolutely no defense, if you sell someone a bike you've refurbed, you have an absolute obligation to ensure that it's safe and legal, full stop.
dani2kuk I didnt mean to start a riot but obviously some people here think they r too cool for some other people like me that r tryin to be humble and do their little thing without pissin anyone off..
dani2uk, if you want to get into riding and/or building single speed or fixed gear bikes, good luck to you and I hope you enjoy it. If you either want to go into business or work in the bike industry, equally good luck to you, but it's not unreasonable to hope that if you're going into business, you do so without endangering others or exploiting their ignorance and if you're going to break into the bike industry you do so at a level that is comensurate with your knowledge/experience. Evans may not be the greatest bike shop in the world and probably don't pay brilliantly, but they're big enough to be constantly recruiting and with so many of their staff seemingly far from really interested in bikes, an environment in which a real bike enthusiast could readily excel and probably progress quite rapidly.

nothing wrong with the concept. but seriously charging £250 is outrageous. £100-150 then fair enough.
also they are not called couriers, they are curryers ;)

jonaent (Jon)
Thor Wait a minute
Which grown up said
"I apologize that you actually had to click the link for yourself to see what i'm refering to."
JUST STOP IT!!!! NO ONE FUCKING CARES IF YOU PROVE YOUR POINT OR NOT!!!!
Er Jona, that's precisely what you said a few posts before that people shouldn't do ;)
So, we have dani2uk who makes and sells the bikes, and Thor who probably is a friend of dani's and signed up at the same time or thereabouts. Both doing just as Tony Dafoney and others have tried to do so which is to repair their online reputation after it has been besmirched on this forum by the collective membership.
The question that seems to evade all of these bike builders is "Why do they slag our products off?", and in this case dani2uk and Thor the answer can neatly be summed up as "The bikes you advertise are soundly unsafe without a second brake on the rear wheel.". That is, a single-speed bike should at least have a secondary braking mechanism. It's all fine and dandy having a fixed-wheel bike without a rear brake as the rear-wheel itself is the brake via the fixed-gear.
As for the price, anything is worth whatever people are willing to pay. If you have a market for your bikes at the price that you advertise them at, then wonderful. Forum users might not like that fact as they know that they could build/convert similar bikes for cheaper, but they're failing to account for turning a profit as the majority do such things for their friends out of the joy of doing it and seldom think to turn a profit. Good for you that you can, good for us that we find enjoyment in doing it for our friends.
But yeah, put another brake on your bikes by default. Do that and you'll find that none of us would care what you're up to... well, mostly we won't... we'd still slag off the aesthetics, but that's just beauty being in the eye of the beholder.
