  • In fairness this frame is rad as you can get. They'd do the TDF on these if they could afford them.

  • Once You Ride Track You Never Go Back??????

i think someone should email them to change the AD.....cuz you can only go backwards on a track bike and not on anything else

  • Students dont get discount at BLB to my knowledge. I'd like to know if we DO though. Also i resent the fact that being a student automatically makes you a hipster. I work my arse off every morning to distinguish myself from the squares, and I don't appreciate getting no credit from it. This look takes time!!

Thats not 3 different people, that's just 3 different styles.

  • Allright, it seems that u guys had all this energy to try and make me feel crap so I just wanna say thanks to the people that have actually been respectful enough to give me some positive criticisms, and for all the others I want u to know that I take pride in these babies although u might think they r crap but there is no need to be mean all tell strangers to fuck off..

I didnt know it was illegal to have only one brake.. I didnt know u d get offended if I was to call these bikes couriers.. And i didnt know my prices were so unreasonable by lookin at some o the prices that I ve checked anyway..

I didnt mean to start a roit but obviously some people here think they r too cool for some other people like me that r tryin to be humble and do their little thing without pissin anyone off..

  • Dani2kuk, that's all very good and well, but if you're going to start refitting and selling bikes, you really should do some research into the bikes your refitting, and more importantly the people you're going to be selling them to, BEFORE you post an advert to us. A lot of the anger directed towards you is because you obviously did little to none of either.

For example, one of your potential buyers posted a picture of one of your bikes a mere few days ago on this very forum and asked us questions about it. If you'd seen that, i very much doubt you would have put an advert on this forum! Also it's simple netiquette to introduce yourself to a new group, and get involved in the community before trying to pedal your wares, excuse the pun. Speaking of which, do you yourself ride either a single speed or fixed wheel bike? I somehow don't think you do.

Simple logic says that one brake is bad, and if you've ever ridden a bike you'd know that. I can understand you not realising it's illegal, but that's really a moot point.

...In fact signing up to a forum for shameless advertising is bad, its almost as bad as door-to-door salesmen.

I actually like the look of some of the bikes .................. very retro, I like the look but I am not in it to pose or posture.

I have visited here many times and followed a lot of threads ...some are very amusing ....but you are overly scathing and real unhelpful too, in fact ........... most of the time.

I have yet to find a single piece of easy to follow good advice on what is good on a cheap start off bike. You all have your heads up your arses ......we cant all afford to travel across the city to your fav LBS and get an off the peg conversion. We cant all spend hours measuring and building or searching for parts we know nothing about.

I DO NOT want to start off on a fixed gear ............. I want to start off on a one gear fast bike.

Just try this ....................* "yes, the bikes are OK but" or "are not an ok entry level ride" "get it its a good base bike but change the brakes & heres how"* ..........

See, it is so much fncking easier and far more helpful to say that than to post endless crap comments and snobby cut and paste articles

FFS give us newbies a break and some easy to follow help .......................... ?????
well I have said my bit
try to be helpful this time please

  • there's some very good advice and info on this forum, in fact if you can find any better I'd be surprised.

it's not here for us to bend over backwards to help lazy people who ask dumb questions, it's a community forum for people who ride bikes. It pisses me off when kids flip off over one post becuase they didn't get their own way, without even using google, let alone sheldon brown or fixed faqs etc..

how arrogant to assume that you can just demand help.

  • scott not scot were my brake lever comments not helpful?

    Well frankly NO

You are assuming that visitors and newbies know as much as you do.
But I have to relent and say that your comments were not as shitty as people like that guy chris Crash ...really WTF what on earth was that tome all about ???
Your comment made me go back and check out the bikes and try to see what you meant.

OK get your head outta your assssss
    Who has demanded help here???
Not me ..not most who ask ...............you are just an arrogant "BIKE SNOB"
or am I misreading your posts??

  • scott not scot How were they not helpful.....i informed him and anyone else reading that the lever needs to face the other direction....i then gave a perfectly good reason as to why.
That didn't assume anything...if i was assuming you knew as much as me then the lever wouldn't have been placed in that position in the first place.

I'll say it a little louder this time
Your comment made me go back and check out the bikes and try to see what you meant.

  • scott not scot So what more can i have done....
I apologize that you actually had to click the link for yourself to see what i'm refering to.

There you go ......how old are you 9 ???
    You start off great
You read a fellow members post and then jump into his slipstream
Grow up a bit you childish twaaat

What people are expecting everything to be done for them, where are they posting ????????

    Here, here, I agree but.......

This forum is not like it used to be :-( I got nothing but pure help and pleasure from this forum in March 07 when it kicked off - it was f**king great! Now it's all shouty bullshit from people who just come on and expect answers and PEOPLE NEVER SEARCH BEFORE ASKING!!! I had an argument with Tynan, and it just really put me off the forum.... People really shouldn't bother arguing on here, it's sad.

Just go to Polo, have a beer and a chat.

Err, Thor, are you serious? I joined this site last year knowing fuck all about bikes, now i've built 3 of my own... this is an absolutely indispensable resource. You do realise there's a search function on this site? I suggest you try typing "help" into it:
    help search
That probably has a run-down on everything a beginner needs to know about fixed wheel bikes.

One gear fast bike is a bit of an oxymoron ;)

you shouldn't have to travel across the city to get to your LBS, it stands for local bike shop.

    LBS

^again using the search function, a list of local bike shops in the london area. You should be able to find one close to you there (assuming you're in London).

I hate to go against your word, but from that post it seems to me that you haven't really looked that closely at this site. I started out knowing nothing, and used only this site, plus google and sheldon to gain the (limited) knowledge i now have. Plus if you have a specific question about brakes or whatever, for god's sake just ask it! Someone will help you, i'm sure!

  • Wait a minute

    Which grown up said

"I apologize that you actually had to click the link for yourself to see what i'm refering to."

JUST STOP IT!!!! NO ONE FUCKING CARES IF YOU PROVE YOUR POINT OR NOT!!!!

if your selling some thing you should be offering a quality product, if i couldn't drop my packages on time i would get fired, plain as that.

if you want some help here is a start, dont call them courier bikes, messengers arn't cool most of them are crack heads, those that are 'cool' take serious offense to any one who considers them cool.

how about getting decnet frames, and puting some decentparts on them the right way around? that sounds like a good plan to me, infact when i start building more frames (from tubing) i'm going to make sure i use quality tubing, and the best tools for the job. i'm also not going to sell one untill i have built lots for mates and know really well what im doing.

re-read the bike snob thing, right now your the meath lab... find what you object to, and change it.

btw sorry if it seems like i dont care about your feelings, its probly beacuse i dont.

  • TY ASM, appreciate all that yo say

I will search in more depth.

Its just that what could always be really helpful - a great opportunity for discussion and guidance always turns into farce on here .....it is SO frustrating.

  • No problem thor, i know what you mean there is a tendency for digression, but sometimes it's very, very funny. :) Maybe an FAQ would be a good idea after all, but the first argument against it is that nobody ever reads a 'READ THIS FIRST' FAQ. It goes against some unwritten code of the internets.

  • So are you a courier or a messenger Chris Crash ?

or is it none of the above?

  • TY again ASM

A FAQ would really be very helpful

  • Thor So are you a courier or a messenger Chris Crash ?

or is it none of the above?

i was in ldn but you cant make any money at it in this town... just couldnt think of a good anology for what im doing now

  • hmm, maybe i'll suggest it to Velocity Boy (he's the administrator) - it'd have to be one where others could add questions and answers otherwise it'd take VB half a year to write. The problem with that is that the content would have to be moderated to keep it on topic.

by the way chris was a courier/messenger in london, now he's learning how to make bikes, eating no animal products and grumbling a fair bit :).

edit: does that some up your life chris? :)

  • yeah perty well,

and i'm a gainst an faq no one will read it, just lurk a bit before you post, and dont try to sellthings on your frist post, and dont sell overpriced crap on your frist post

  • Good point - beer, always helps. If you need any help come to polo on a sunday, and chat to us face to face :) we're much nicer that way.

(by the way i'm not going to keep doing the link thing, you can access that and other popular threads at the top of this page, where it says top discussions.)

  • You are on Scott

scott not scot Am i safe to come back now?
Tell you what Thor...we'll discuss brakes in detail over a beer one day...i apologize if i offended you at all.
