also there aint no work around so why be happy. -

The secret was to get in favour with your controller so that you spent all day going W1 - WC1 - W1
even so I rarely ever made a monkey in one week although the postal strikes were good though -

Mine styaed a night a my house after he had his piles removed.

And there was me thinking it was the fax-machine.
See the messmedia site for 'couriers are dying out' stories going back to 1959.

If it makes you all feel better even though email, faxes, digicams, etc have fscked up the courier trade, my company uses couriers for shuffling "we love you" type gifts to clients and suchlike. I think it gives management a buzz to be seen spending more getting things sent as fast as possible using couriers, rather than waiting in Royal Mail for a delivery that takes a day.

I don't really want to get into it here, but even tho you can send the pix down a wire, the actual items that are in the photo, clothes, accessories etc, in a spread for a fashion mag have to be physically present in the studio (or on the location) for the photographer to snap them.
That means courier/messenger/despatch service is req. As long as people req things to be moved around, there will be other people that do it.
In my view, this means that couriers/messengers/despatch riders will be req as long as there is organised economic activity.
If you aren't making enough money, quit, change companies or start your own company. And stop bitching about what a drag it is that fixies are cool. It's boring. Or even better, use your intimate knowledge of what fixie stuff is cool, and where to get it, to start a on-line shop selling to stuff to hipsters (hello Roberto, Jos, Keirin Berlin, Berlinetta, Erik Zo etc).
