I'm more for gloss black than matt black by the way (for a bike frame - of course a car HAS to be matt black or grey!)

So can I get this somewhere? Big Metal Flake, yes indeedy!!just google metal flake paint, most big places like house of kolor etc do them. usually in small pots, and can actually get different colour flakes or even a rainbow flake :O, but it will need quite a few coats of clear. OR as you mentioned could spray-can a frame yourself and while the paint is still tacky just poor glitter over it. then do a few coats of clear, letting completely dry and fine sanding between coats.

Car? Car? Where, kill it quick!
Now, surely we can allow motorcycles? 2 wheels good, 4 wheels bad!? -

Max Hi Tynan, - you're spot on, they have a very limited range hence my earlier post about Ral 2013. There are big industrial powder coaters that have much larger ranges but they won't have Armourtex's experience with masking frames etc or take as much care I think...
Gotcha !

• #56
I'd be up for matt or gloss black
-
• #57
i've got 2 frames to do. Was thinking one would be cream - somone else mentioned they were interested in cream - and one 'another colour'. Maybe something like powder blue or olive green or flat grey... Does anyone have a list of the colours armourtex do? do they have a website?
Either way i'm up for doing both frames as long as we can agree on some colours...

oh, i'm assuming armortex will blast them first? i'm not up for nitromorsing 2 frames - i value my brain cells. Well, a little at least.

Maybe the way to go is a series or orders involving more than one person, B would you be interested in a cream order for our frames? Are you London based?

fixation do parts need to be stripped and cleaned first? or is that included? or is this a stupid question?
For £40 they will collect from your house - take all the parts off your bikes (up to 100 bikes per £40 order) degrease them, clean them, strip the paint, mask all the areas to be left unpainted and plug all the holes and openings to protect the threads, they will then chemically etch the surface/bead blast or otherwise prepare for painting, powder coat all the frames and parts you require painting, bake it until cured then reassemble, torque and grease everything to factory specs, they will then deliver the bike and/or parts back to your home or work (up to a 120 miles radius) and then take you out for a meal - then on to the theatre and finally to a club where they will get you drunk/stoned/off your tits before buying you a £20 hand job and putting you in a taxi home.

B.Yea, that charlotte street colour is the sort of thing i was after so i'm up for that if they have anything similar. I'm in south london but i'm sure i could find hackney or whatever if i buy one of those cheap GPS units they have in halfords.
Oh, and sarcasm aside, will they strip it? cause if not i'll get it sandblasted first.
When are we thinking of doing this?

Just spoke to Armourtex, they carry a lot of these, but not all. They suggested deciding which colour was wanted then calling them to check.
http://www.e-paint.co.uk/RAL_Colourchart.asp
http://www.stephen.hull.btinternet.co.uk/ral.html
How about adding the RAL number to each colour group?
I'm thinking either:
light ivory RAL 1015 (They have this in gloss)
cream RAL 9001 (They have this in satin)
Almost certainly the light ivory for me depending what it actually looks like in the flesh. -

Hmmmm, OK just spoke to them and they'll do 2 frames for £75 as the prep is most of the work, in other words bits and bobs no problem, but multiple frames would be taking the piss.
Kind of shoots the whole thread down really.

I have 50g (will mix 2l of clear lacquer) of Deception white metal flake. 375 micron (large). So check with your painter if they can pass it through their equipment. As used on MTV pimp my ride UK. Gives that hot rod 70's sparkle.
Example of Red.
£9 if anyone is interested.
Purchased from here.
http://www.specialistpaints.com/index.php
Check out their site. Some amazing paints and additives.
PS: Defo got a few bits of the BMW which I'd put in for gloss black.
No way is it going to be £40 but it'll be cheap.
