I'm resurrecting this thread as Hubjub are fresh out of the Dia Compe clamp on brake for round forks. Does anyone know of a UK stockist?
Cheers.

Hi,
I just bought the dia comp BRS 101, but my fork is too oval!
it's supposed to fit from 22,2mm to 24mm
mine is 3cm!Did some one had this trouble and fixed it?
(sorry for my frenchy english)
thnx. -
• #58
^^^Sell it and replace with one for oval forks.
-
• #59
No cause i guess it will be the same brake excepted the small parts.
I could change the small parts only, but:my leg fork is 30mm so the oval one won't feet too.
I could change the fork but i don't want to.so, i was wondering of someone had the same matter and fixed it with a trick (small part from some tools shops, fitting...)

You could get a couple of bits of metal cut, bent, and drilled to fit maybe.
Take the pieces which fit around the forks to a metalworkers and ask them to make a pair to your specifications.
If you know anyone who has access to tools they could help. -

Ok, I was finally pissed off, so I took the two rings (i don't know how you call that) and a hammer :
and BIMB BAM BOUM on them.
It fits..just....limit...
i scratched my fork as you can see on the picture, becasue of my first smashed ring test.
just to inform people :
if you've got a fork arm around 3cm, and are planning to buy this brake...
you can "bim-bam-boum"...
it fits...and works.thanks todd for your help, anyway...

ARGH, the humility!!

...sorry?

heh, dictionary for Mr D. Balls.
I *think *he means "oh, the humanity!" ?
Morrison's phrase "Oh, the humanity" has become an American meme. Nowadays, the popular expression is most often used in a satirical way to ridicule, diminish, and trivialize deep emotional feelings that are part of the human condition.

I don't think the clamp on brakes will fit the BMW forks. They are not really a standard size i.e not really round or oval, plus I think the distance between the bridge of the fork and the tyre could be an issue.
Have a Brooklyn myself and they are super bikes. I think they now do a fork option with brake fitments on them.
-
• #70
Ah, OK.
I still don't understand though...

Basically the Brooklyn forks are unlike any other forks out there. I presume you have seen them on a bike? There is a massive gap between the tyre and the bridge of the fork.
The Dia Comp brakes are good but are designed to go on 'normal' forks.
Scott not Scot may be able to give a better explanation as I'm not really a technical person.

Davey C: sorry, the incomprehension was directed at the 'humanity/humility' comment, yes they do make a brake-friendly fork and that's what I ordered.
However, a feck-up at the factory has meant a non-caliper-mount fork is on it's way to me. I love the aesthetics of the mount-less fork, but had always intended to run a brake for city riding... it's a custom colour too so getting a replacement one was going to mean an even longer delay with the order, I thought this might be an interim solution.
Was wondering about the distance between the bridge of the fork and the tyre issue... it would seem the brake attaches to the fork leg, so would it matter how far you fit it down the fork?
As you point out, it may not fit the round/oval criteria anyway, I'm wondering how flexible the rubber clamps that grip the fork are?

if you don't run brakeless, send the fork back and get the drilled one. none of this "aesthetics" wank, clamp-on brake especially for a bmw gansta
-
• #74
sell it on ebay and order another one
-
• #75
...as I've said, sending the fork back/ebaying it or whatever is going to take ages, especially given the time it's taken to get the frame in the first place.
'none of this "aesthetics" wank, clamp-on brake especially for a bmw gansta'
...why? it's hardly an authentic Japanese racing frame I'm butchering is it?
Wish i had known you had that, would have taken it with the frame fella?
