  • Thanks for that adrevporn.
    Any chance of a link?

Am I right in assuming that the correct Miche BB will prevent the fouling issue?

    enter code here

  • Its a very common tool, have edited abovd.
No idea about fouling with that setup, but correct bb should sort. Miche swapped tapers a while Go iirc.

  • Got it. Thanks again.

  • It does need 109, yeah. One day when I upgrade I'll check it to see if it fits/doesn't bottom out.

  • I have 102 iso bb flangeless, think I could squeeze sg75 on?
Might have to install flipped large sprocket.. not ideal, but small q factor if possible.

  • Discovered why the Miche chainset was fouling. The bb was a Sugino 103 and the Miche needs a 107.

  • @adrevporn not sure, you have to also factor in the spider hitting the chain stay. a few posts up someone mentioned that the 109mm S75 BB is the duck's waffle if you set it up right.

and on that note @BeaconJon , I run a TA Axix 103 BB with Miche Pr1mato cranks (the old style, not the current style). I'm all fine with chain stay clearance (although I've switched to freewheel for winter - southern hemisphere), I'll have to update with my chainline when I get home to measure it.

  • Drive side was fine with 103, it was the non drive that was fouling on the The part of the bb that was protruding.

  • Not sure if the castings are similar but I'm just swapping out a Sugino RD2 crankset that was ran on a 103 bb. I can't tell you the exact chai line as I never measured it. Looked ok though (not much help I guess).

    Jon.

  • Ah, note that RD2's are a JIS taper and S75's are an ISO taper.

Miche also changed tapers from the older to newer style cranks, old being ISO and new (current) style being JIS - it depends which Miche version cranks you are planning to use :)

  • I'm changing to the Miche Advanced, it'll be coupled with the matching Miche 107mm bb

  • How do I remove this BB? It's shima I 105 in a 2011 Specialized Tarmac frame

  • so i have a aventon cordoba frame with a JIS Square Taper (107 BB) with some average blb white track cranks and want to change them. I want to buy a lattice factory 5 chainring with 144bcd and some crank arms to go with that and fit that to my frame without having any compatibility issues. What crankarms and bb combination should i go for. Someone please help

  • Omniums + chainring, good and on the cheaper end of track cranks. Also includes bb.

    Sugino 75+bb

If you want to go cheaper then maybe stronglight 2000 which fits the bb you already have

  • Sugino 75 is a bit expensive, anyone know where I could get ommium crank arms with a bb?

  • http://www.velodromeshop.net/index.php?p=product&id=1276 found these, pretty cheap any good or should i wait for some omniums to pop up, im pretty sure those cranks would fit my current bb aswell

  • my swiss bottom bracket has had enough.
this YST that is 110 when i need a 107
    ORRRR
this Velo Orange that is 107 but is 2.5x as pricey

  • Hi guys, I've just bought a cinelli mash parallax 2015. And want to put my scram omnium crank set on it but the chain ring bolts touch the rear stays.
Has anyone had the same problem, or know a way around it.

  • Will this Super Record Ultra Torque chainset work with any Ultra Torque cups, or do they have to say Super Record on them? The current cups just say ULTRA TORQUE. They are pushfit and came with the frame. Like this:

In the current set up, the cranks (new) spin with very slight resistance and make a bit of a light "shhhhhh"sound. I've assembled this crankset twice before (with new, matching cups) and they normally spin for days, silently. Something is different here.

The owner of the bike apparently called Campagnolo who said "yeah it'll be fine" but he's not a mechanic and he may have missed something.

  • Campag don't make separate press-fit cups for Super Record, only for threaded BB shells.

Is the shell the correct width?

  • Thanks Scilly. I'll check tomorrow when I'm back at the workshop.

  • Ive got sugino 75s and I normally use a Shimano UN55 110mm BB as its the closest you get to the Sugino75 bottom bracket's axle length.
I'm changing frames from a pre cursa with a 68mm BB to a Italian steel frame with a 70mm BB.
Do I need a longer axle to clear it or does axle length only refer to exterior length?
Don't want to order a 110 if it wont clear the frame properly.
Should I be looking at a 113mm instead?

  • It's hard to say, but I'd be reasonably confident that 110 will still be ok. But who knows how broad the Italian frame chainstays will be?

Sheldon's BB size page doesn't discriminate for BSA/ITA.

I'd say keep the old 110mm BB, put the cranks on it. Then hold this assembly up underneath the new frame's BB shell and peer at the chainstays from the top. Try to judge clearance.

Also, possibly more importantly, how's your chainline with the current set up? Measure it and work out whether you need to send the cranks outboard or not. (Assuming you're not changing rear wheel).
