right now it's just a case of finding Logic ;)

  • i hear bmmf has a copy

  • Logic is fine as long as you wear a dress when you use it.

Cubase is for people who know what's what.

Pro-tools is for addled old Californians who just know how to press 'record'

    FL Studio is for hoodrats

    Live is for creative hoodrats

Garageband is for dads messing about

    DP is for americans

    Sonar is for PC geeks

now i want all of them :)

  • I make my living song writing.

I have tried a few but it all seems to come down to Logic.

Logic express is pretty much all you might ever need - 64 tracks of audio, endless tracks of plug-in instruments, heaps of effects plugins.

It should be noted that Logic Express is not copy protected in any way (clue!!)

  • big mummy smeear i hate iphoto as well
    like rrreeeaaallly HATE IT

    and iweb

im chris crash and i approve this message
    like rrreeeaaally APPROVE IT

  • nimhbus Cubase is for people who know what's what.

    wrong wrong!

cubase is for people who know what was what but not what's going on in the world RIGHT NOW.

    anyway.

as great as logic is (i use it myself) i think for smeear's style and way of working (i assume) ableton live is actually better for you. i use both by the way.

well, it's for professionals who need serious power, anyway. let's put it like that.

I make my living producing audio and designing music software , and feel that Logic is not all that, nor has it ever been.

  • hahh, still pushing the old cakebox shit, Jimmy.

I thought even you had gone to Logic Pro now?

want to buy a BG1? BTW

  • Apple send me free copies of Logic, but i don't use it. it's good, but a bit gay in more than a few places. e.g. Cubase could use all four processors on a quad core long before apple figured out how to make logic do it.

i wouldn't bother arguing the point, but it winds me up that in any discussion about DAWs, someone always says that Logic is the best and the most 'professional' which is as fatuous as it is untrue.

What does the highest paid composer in the world use? Cubase.

  • we must sort out that, er..software purchase thingy sometime.

assuming I ever record, or even make any music again!

  • nimhbus I make my living producing audio and designing music software , and feel that Logic is not all that, nor has it ever been.

Most of the programs went past peoples basic needs many years ago, they all record millions of tracks at 96khz/24bit, offer endless effects, automation and so on.

It comes down to preference of a user interface.

I produced three albums on a 8 track sequencer and two sampling keyboards for a major label, no real problems, even a basic copy of Logic or Cubase or whatever should be more than enough for most people.

  • exactly, they're all fine. just don't come here tellign me Logic is more 'pro' , as it gets my back up.

  • RPM we must sort out that, er..software purchase thingy sometime.

assuming I ever record, or even make any music again!

    what software purchase?

  • lets all cuddle

  • Bite me, Hatboy

    2 processors = bad music.

    4 processors = good music.

    ???

    I doubt it.

Nobody here has made such an absolute statement ? And if they did why would that wind you up ?

What does the highest paid composer in the world use? Cubase.

    i wouldn't bother arguing the point ;P

  • nimhbus Apple send me free copies of Logic

Can I buy it off you, is it the Pro version + hardware key ??

  • nimhbus exactly, they're all fine. just don't come here tellign me Logic is more 'pro' , as it gets my back up.

Firstly I have made no such claim ?

Why are you so sensitive to these kinds of remarks, where you in a dreadful accident with Logic many years ago ?

The only person who has attempted to elevate one platform above another is you with your "What does the highest paid composer in the world use? Cubase." nonesense.

    :P

  • never mind. you weighed in with ' I make my living song writing.' which strongly implied that Logic was the pros choice. but i may have misinterpreted. it's not personal, i just get the red mist when i think about Logic! it winds me up because i have spent years in the music tech business listening to people preach rubbish about logic, that's all.

let's forget about all it, eh

  • tynan
nimhbus exactly, they're all fine. just don't come here tellign me Logic is more 'pro' , as it gets my back up.

where you in a dreadful accident with Logic many years ago ?
that's pretty much the size of it yes!

    peace bro, respec' etc etc

  • hhahahaha

  • nimhbus never mind. you weighed in with ' I make my living song writing.' which strongly implied that Logic was the pros choice.

Apologies if you have been offended, that was not my intention, whatever software you use is the very best, it is used by the highest paid composer in the world (and that is scientific proof of its superiority).

    Let's have a sequencer punch up !!!

Let's have a big gay Logic bum up.
