Awesome ride last night, and it was nice meeting so many new faces and bikes.
Never felt so cold and numb though, but it was nice once I had warmed up and had a cuppa! -
• #704
so only 2 vid clips were usable after the wet weather put my camera out of commission (much like the lights on my costume!)
not too sure what's covering the lens on the 2nd half :-/

Super fun. Thanks for organizing. Can't remember the last time I was so cold, though. I say we repeat it once it warms/dries up a bit.

"Oh what a night!!!!" . what can i say, but i'm amazed by the number of brave souls that made it (roughly 70-80) and even more so to those that finished (roughly 43). When it was drizzling on the way down i was praying that it would clear up, but near on 4.5hrs of the total rain it did not let up once (perhaps for some of my ride home). this was also the reason for why my rims were full of water still today, wtf!?!? the costumes were amazing given the conditions, added to the fact that everyone was soaked to the bone, big cheers to those who put the effort in. It became clear early on that the treasurehunt was not going to work, so i kept on pushing the group on to the main checkpoints. I still did the random draws to keep everyone cheerful. At one stage (near pentonville prison) we lost 95% of the group and rode to marylebone station, at this stage i was ready to pack it in as we were down to a handful of people. but after returning a few phone calls, flashing lights emerged from the dark one by one and i started to think it would be finished. I think we broke the record for the number of punctures with around 20-30 at my estimate. The reason why we continued and not wait for individuals, was that the planned stops, were to be a place for people to catch-up rather than to stop at various points. I think this also gives people who get lost and place to go as well. To some extent this worked.
hope everyone who won a prize like them and it wouldn't be possible from our kind sponsors (see below). I still have a few left, that got missed with all the confusion and the fact i thought i had a brain tumour by the end (from stressing about it all). If the people concerned are happy i will pass them on to the1 yr aniversary party on 29th march (screen print from wayne, 1hr photo from ben broomfield and disk mount cog & tee from londonfixiebike, smeear caps from smeear). As mentioned, due to the treasurehunt being thrown in the bin, i thought i would reward all those hardy souls for completing the ride and re-issuing dry tickets. Enough dribbling, although I'm still trying to think how massive it would have been if it was a clear night???
My list of individual thanks
-seb for doing spoke cards
-sheep and mark for helping check course last week
-Jos from Tour de Ville
-Roberto from Roberto Bicicletas
-Scott from Archies Grobags
-Hassan from Cavendish Cycles
-Wayne for screen print
-Ben Broomfield photography
-Max from londonfixiebike
-Paul from Freshtripe
-Todd for caps

Bring on Monopoly Night Ride 2009!!!!are we really going to have to wait another year? summertime repeat would be awesome, but thanks so much to dogsballs for arranging all the sponsorship (of course, we all know that the ride "just happened") - and also to all the sponsors for the prizes. and, of course, to all the riders who made it so great!

Awesome ride, thanks Dale. Loved all the extra touches - prizes, spoke cards, raffle, etc. Great to see everyone making an effort even in the rain too.

20-30 punctures! what tyres are you lot using!!
top work caninegonads, i wasn't there but it sounds like those who were enjoyed your efforts.
i can't believe people rode in their sisters jeans?! cold and clammy with a bit of friction to make things even more comfortable. -

props for getting a vid done slamm. (nice bit of skream action there too i see ;)dubstep/fixed gear always a winner i reckon...and appropriately moody for the weather)
looks like it was an ardous adventure but fun all the same. Well done to all those who made it and to the organisers and prize givers. back on the road soon I hope so next time..... -

I'm really pleased an effort was made to document the night. Nice photo's Iain and another great vid slamm.
Bring on the next! -

well done dale, i feel a summer repeat is neccesarry as the treasure hunt questions weren't used which you took your time doing, it is a possible thing to do in the day?
we just have to wait and see what the summer brings
well done to everyone who came, just want to say i think this shows the attitudes of people on here, the shittest weather and people still have a great time so just wait for better weather and then lets see what happens! -

I'm not normally one for riding in straight lines for long periods of time, but I must admit I really got into that.
I didn't mind the rain and the cold as such. If anything what affected me was the lack of consideration from certain car drivers despite the sketchist of conditions - I really just don't understand these people.
That dude at the Tower bridge traffic lights, wft was that all about! again just further on up nr cable street? with ben boys driving at speed passin nr along us on the wrong side of the road with oncoming cars! sheer lunacy & utter fuckin bonkersness !
ANYWAY, Nice seeing so many riders make it despite the wetstuff. Cool People, Nice Bikes and overall great vibes riding around town in large numbers - bring on the next one!
Had a nice mellow ride South-side with Stelle n Black Fuji dude (sorry forgot the name) polished off a bottle of red at Stelles and that was my lot.
Much respect to all, Espesh to Dale & co. -

Nice to see you all again.
A good turnout, despite the nasty weather.
Good on you, DB for getting it all going and worrying about us.

cool ride, stoked i won a prize even if it was a girly shirt that will never fit me, guessing stelle will make more use of it than i ever could.
dale, you got any spokecards left? cuz i was late i didn't get one at the start but would much like to grab one for the memories....
Cheers Build! I reckon I'll wear the hat for future rides! Good safety wear!
