I realise I've made all the wrong preperations!
so off comes the brake, on with some un-taped track bars, forget the saddle bag and water bottles, forget the rucksack with energy food and spare clothes. Instead I've got an xxl messenger bag full of records, spoke cards and camera equipment with space for two cans of red-stripe.
my massive new-york chain will be round my waist, the lycra is out and the jeans are on.
ready to roll.
Nice! Although consider replacing the untaped track bars with 8 inches of straight steel piping for optimum comfort.
Nearly Brett remember it not steel you want for a handled bars but some 1" copper piping from your local plummers merchant.

7? It's 8pm for a 9pm start innit?
Drinking, chilling.
It isn't really a 9pm start. The maps come out around 8 and then a big line of bikes starts streaming away.

Oh yeah, weather will be f-ing perfect, unless a force-ten gale develops from nowhere and blows in across the coast.

Ah, just got back and had a much needed bath...
We passed a few people I think were from here (maybe hippy, jonny etc), they were just arriving as we were driving away from Dunwich. Should have drafted someone faster ;)
Lovely weather for it... A wee bit warmer would have been nice.

Just got back!
Started little before nine, did few stops to sort out lights etc and of course at the feeding station, arrived in Dunwich 5 o'clock, think my average speed was 16.88 mph.
At 5 o'clock mostly of the guys there were on road bikes, i reckon only 3 fixed riders were there.
Went on a road bike with compact chainset (50/34) and a 11-23 cassette. Oh and a 135mm stem!
When having breakfast, met this guy who was going to get a train from Ipswich at 8. I was supposed to get the train back at 11:40 but decided to take the risk and use the same ticket but get an early train.
We rode from Dunwich to Ipswich in about 1 hours 45 minutes - i was having a hard time to keep up with the guy!
Hope you guys had a nice ride as well!
I think for next year will consider saving a bit of money and get some better lights!
So I've just been asked to shoot a piece for ITV Local/London - if you see me pointing a camera in your direction it's not neccesarily cos I'm loving the lycra ... oh, and thats my excuse for riding the dreadnaught tourer tonight - it might be heavy, but it least its got the bar bag on for the camera and mudguards for the rai....oh, hang on its going to be a lovely, dry tailwind propelled night isnt it?!
