Im having problems at moment, mating my riser bars to quill stem, the bars have a middle measurement of 25.4mm and the stem 26.4mm, Ive seen seatpost shims that will do 25.4mm to 26.4mm , and think that the way to fit would be to cut one of these down, but wandered if anyone had other suggestions, ive tried using coke can shims, and it just keeps rotating loose, not easy trying to force sharp bits of metal into the inside of stem!!

It can be done, try scoring the coke can material a little, or grab some thicker material from a DIY shop, failing that... get a new stem.
-
• #82
you'll need a negative inverse shim

Past experience of the same problem leads me to advise you that 4 over lapping shims made from a fosters can should sort you out
