  • Yep, looks like seller was simply unaware. Understandable if you're not as much of a Gazelle anorak as some of us and you don't have a similarly sized frame in 653 to weigh and compare against.

Looking at the number of transactions and his sold items, I think the seller is quite experienced, also in misleading titles, check out his 'Rossin' frame for sale...

  • Another one here.

    653 tubing and my size.
Might have replaced my Koga with that, if it wasn't for the touring bike I just bought..

  • ^ ...and if it wasn't for the fact that I am now on my way to pick it up :)

    Not for 200 though :(

Although in fairness because I contacted him he's now amended his listing to point out that it probably isn't Reynolds 653. He could have just ignored me if he was really dodgy.

  • Here's another one!

As I have decided that this month is 'don't buy in July', it's a good thing that it's too small for me. I doubt that my resolution would stand up to such a stunner.

  • Strange forks.

  • ^ Yep, forks don't look original, I could be wrong but I would have expected a panto on the top of the crown and not chrome.

  • no super AA's for ages then a loads come round at the same time

  • Hi, I will be selling my Gazelle Champion Mondial (Track), what do you think it is worth? The back wheel is buckled beyind repair and the headset (Omas- Italy) needs replacing or new bearings. Otherwise the frame has a fair few chips but no dings/dents.

    It is ST 56.5 CC
Campag Strada chainset & fluted seatpost
    Chorus Front brake
    Cinelli Stem & Criterium Bars

    Thanks...

  • I may be buying this tomorrow: https://www.lfgss.com/thread69122.html
Been keeping an eye on some very nice CM frames, but this just appeared and talked to me :)
Can't find much info, am I right in thinking that they're a bit lower end than CM. Any opinions?
I want something I can ride well, think I'm gonna have to switch those wheels out...

  • ^^gp999 - headset to be replaced and rear wheel will take a bit off from my PM guesstimate. Still a lovely frame though, I'd guess 531c, and with very nice lugs.

  • ^ ...and if it wasn't for the fact that I am now on my way to pick it up :)

    Not for 200 though :(

I only just read this.. :o
    Keep me/us posted!

  • will do :)

  • Okay, who got that NOS Champion Mondial ATB frame from M'plaats?

  • it wasn't me

  • Not guilty M'lud.

  • Zieleman that'd be something you'd want to own. not meaning to rub salt into (if) any wounds but how did you miss out on it? any pics?

  • Hmm... everytime I called him he didn't take the phone. The moment he did he had just sold it 5min before.

I am sad, but that I have one already softens the pain. I did some enjoyable trips with it earlier this year. The one up was pretty much identical, but it didn't have 'Gazelle' engraved in the stay tops and I think it didn't have a 2nd set of bottle bosses.

  • ^Where? Yours? For sale? Just bought? Tell us more!

  • Nothing to do with me, unfortunately. Pretty amazing though. 653 tubing, STI mounts, weird drop outs. Must have been one of the last steel CM frames made by Gazelle.

  • This is now mine. Hoping that somone can give me a clue - the rear spacing is 130, the Cross Trophy seems to only have been sold as 5 or 6-speed, so I'd assumed it would be 120/126. Is it likely to have been cold set at some point? Wondering if I need to get it checked out...

  • That's one of the first Cross Trophy frames (triple cable guides on T/T instead of 2 stoppers). It means no real CX geometry but more a (bad) road geo.
Doesn't matter for normal riding though.
Rear spacing has been 122 or 126.
Cold setting is and was possible.
As long as the rear wheel goes in/out properly and the bike is straight, don't worry.
Otherwise have it aligned. Piece of cake.

  • Very nice 653 ^ ^ ^

  • Thanks DC, as I thought. Didn't know its vintage so that's nice to know.
