This is looking rather lovely, good size as well, have noticed that many posters on this Gazelle thread seem to be more on the tall side or am I imagining things?!:

A Gazaleigh?! I'm not sure why anyone would want to do this...

What an absolute joke! £33 for a used head tube badge?!

Going to get my 1982? ( Cinelli **BB, Number 3287335) **pista re-painted. Ordered White decals from cyclomondo, a mix of his decal #1 and #2 as neither seemed to be correct for mine. Ordered these in white but not sure what colour to go? thinking metallic red? the original paint is a lovely light blue/dark blue pearlised colour that changes in the light but there is quite a bit of rust beyond the usual patina that i would allow.
Any suggestions on colour considering the white decals ordered, thinking Vaz who by all accounts is better in metallics than flat colours. -

I'm selling that and I totally agree. I bought it as a whole bike thinking it was a Gazelle. Never thought in a million years that somebody would go to the effort to fake one.

Cool, good luck with the sale. I'm just really surprised, I mean there's nothing wrong with a decent Raleigh if the previous owner wanted to restore it why not take it back to it's former glory as a Raleigh. I don't suppose you ever asked him or her why?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that.

Nah, I didn't bother asking. The guy actually sold it to me as a Gazelle and I totally fell for it (it was dark when I was viewing it, the price was good and it came with a decent set of wheels). You're right though man, it's weird as hell. It's a good frame and could have easily been restored into a nice Raleigh.

Anyone ever seen a bike like this?? I didn't know Gazelle made these tt/super frames for the track..
-
• #935
That's pretty damn tasty. My size too, ffs..
-
• #936
phew! awesomeness... must be what the highest bidder inspired to go 325 above the previous bid :-/
love the seat tube, and of course the 'monostay'. does it have a seat post fixture that works like a stem? don't see a clamp
-
• #937
it looks like an aa super frame cut out seat tube and monostay but the rear brake bridge isn't drilled for a brake
lovely thing
800 EUR though seems a little bit high ? -

Wow.

Very sexy!

Yeah. I've seen it before.
http://www.lfgss.com/post2210376-33940.html
It uses a quill type seatpost.
Atax or Stronglight, something like that.1st track lo pro was built for Jelle Nijdam for the indiv. pursuit for the 1984 Olympics in LA.
Stat one had a monostay and concave seattube, but a straight, sloping top tube w/o curve.
Next 2 frames were built like the one on the picture for ladies Hennie Top and Mieke Havik.
Not sure but after that maybe just 4 other pieces were built for a german team (Landesverband).
That must be the total quantity of track lo pro by Gazelle.
All dutch track riders used lo pro bikes made by Klaas Kwantes because he built them for the national federation. After that, RIH became the supplier for the national team. -

DC my forks have 335 WIT in marker on the steerer, I get Wit is white, but frame is blue and looks like it always has been as pen is over colour. Does this mean anything?
-
• #942
"wit" means white and this the colour of the logo. Has to match the logo's on the frame and the decal colour (frames and forks can be separated in the paintshop).
Number "335" is either
- frame number, in case of respray
- order number, in case of a new frame / bike
Just to find the correct fork (type, length, colours) for a frame when in leaves the paint shop.
- frame number, in case of respray

Nice one, although decals were blue but will soon be white!

Formula with wrong tubing decal?? >>
Can you tell DC?
-
• #945
^ seatstays certainly look like formula, should be 501 then?
-
• #946
Yes, certainly one of the cheaper Gazelle frames and forks, no 653.
- Short pointed lugs
- Short seat stay tops
- BB shell w/o cutouts
- Non-pantoed fork crown
- Horizontal, Gazelle dropouts
Strange, this seller is quite reliable, usually.
- Short pointed lugs

• #947
^ reliable? maybe only as long as he doesn't receive higher bids after having made an arrangement to sell... like the stunt he pulled after confirming selling a bike to me...
-
• #948
I've sent the seller a message through eBay pointing out that it looks just like a Formula Race and these weren't ever produced in 653. It's possible that the seller is simply unaware of the discrepancy. Let's see what they come back with.
-
• #949
Yep, looks like seller was simply unaware. Understandable if you're not as much of a Gazelle anorak as some of us and you don't have a similarly sized frame in 653 to weigh and compare against.

Oh, and mine's an early model ('94).. I've only ever seen pictures of Exceptions with straight forks.. And they first appear in the '95 catalog.. Fork is original though, it's noblex stainless steel, same as rear bridge.. And excuse the picture, it's still from the marktplaats link.. Been to lazy to borrow a camera and snap some good pics..
