Yo Mark! I'm Curious man! I've also started building my AA-special (collecting an early '90's Chorus group..) It's goin to be sweet.. And when are you guys in Holland then? I talked with Rupert and he told me you guys were going to the start of the Giro also and chill with Tom.. I'll drop by for sure so we can have some "small" dutch beers and chill ;)

Ha, yeah, there's a tournament coinciding with the start of the Giro. Looking forward to it.
And nice! 90s Chorus for the win! Let me know if you come across some 8-speed Chorus ergos (that you don't need). I think I'm going to lose the down-tube shifters.

@ shame
I got the decals from cyclomondo (ebay). It has been a set, but i would guess, you just can buy the blockletters alone.

fluted seatpost
http://link.marktplaats.nl/334569151You mean concave set tube ?
Of course a fluted seat post may also fit...
Note that this wishbone construction (as well as seat post clamp) had "massive" quality issues -
• #387
as in welds failing or what
i saw that nice red one on ebay recently thought about it but wasn't around when the auction finished
what were the issues with the super aa's ?? -
• #388
I think the monostay is brazed. Not so much welding on steel frames in these days. I would guess the issue with the clamp is that the 2 blocks are very rigid and are shaped like an arrow that points forward. All stress will concentrated at that point at the joint, what could lead to deformation.
This is a nice example of a very sophisticated clamp solution >>

fluted seatpost
http://link.marktplaats.nl/334569151Very nice. That 'debbie' has some nice stuff. I spot also early Super Record for example.

Clamp: the one with the "arrow" (and Gazelle logo) is quite okay. Haven't seen a single one that failed.
The one on the picture (Marktplaats) is the 1st version, with a smooth transition from braze-on block to tube. That's a weak spot. A crack (?) will appear on the transition in many cases. Sometimes, one half of the black may fall off completely.Wishbone: seatstays/wishbone separate from seat tube or the seat tube cracks at the junction. Not always, but it was a serious headache in those days.

Okay, I only now notice this one is not with the arrow clamp. I do have a friend with a Champion Mondial with a clamp alike the Marktplaats one and it has failed. Bummer of the nice frame. Did it ever became clear why they failed with this construction?

Hi fruit,
these shifters are easy to refresh. All you need is some emanel colors:

Lack of craftsmanship.
If you make 1 a week, there is no problem.
If you make series of e.g. 40 a time, you start getting problems.Temperature of brazing
Accuracy of mitre

I've got some of those Gazelle gear levers and am looking to sell them but not sure how much for...
-
• #400
I would think somewhere between 25-50 euro
Some weirdos like them that much that they even run them on bikes other than Gazelle >>
Hey Chaim, I still have to send you a pic of my Gazelle built up. Haven't had a camera + it out on a nice day yet. And still running a tore up saddle.
(also, Rupert and I still have a gift package for you! You going to be in A'dam for the tourney?).
