that Paduano is begging for one these:
There's was one on the bay that didn't sell a couple of days back. Plus it's Italian.

Isn't Ti well known for binding. So that a Ti seatpost binds in a Ti frame, but a seatpost of a different metal won't?
Therefore:
Ti skewers bind to Ti hubs.
Ti fork binds to a Ti headset.
Ti handlebars bind to Ti stems.Or is this all just metalurgical hocus-pocus?

Copper slip stops the binding

@multigrooves, bubblan makes a similar ti fork.

good to know, Murts.

Yeah, but aluminium binds too, and thats never stopped bikes containing loads of alu-alu interfaces. Admittedly some parts (like alu spoke nipples + alu rims) can cause issue, but at the end of the day Its just a case of using greese/anti-sieze.

Wow! Nice! I wanted those wheels - are they two way fit?
Yes they are. I might go tubeless, depends if someone other than Hutchison brings out tubeless tyres. (I have a long standing antipathy to Hutchison tyres).

my seat post and frame are not at one...yet

Its Ti and steel where you get real problems, mostly with threads or areas where you are gonna generate great friction between the two metals, you just need to make sure you use the appropriate anti-seize, otherwise it cold welds and you're screwed, finish line make the best one for use with Ti.
I lost count of how many bmxers I heard that totally fucked their profile cranks when they bought a Ti splined axle, put the arms on with normal grease and wondered why it seized so badly they couldn't even hit it out with a sledge hammer.
Or got it on but never got it off again! -

Cool, I'd be interested to see how you get on with them - I came to the conclusion that the low availability of tubeless tyres indicated that it wasn't catching on.

It seems to have caught on for off road riders. Probably because off road riders tend to be more open minded when it comes to innovation.
Just look at the luddites on this forum riding around on steel/lugged frames :-) -

There's been many innovations from the off road world that have come over to the road side of things but, almost without fail, the rate of adoption has been breathtakingly slow. They come eventually though.

Rather than start a new thread, i thought i'd ask here....
I'm in the process of ordering a frame with xacd (just tweaking the technical drawings now). I've researched enough to be confident that it won't fall apart, but i'm wary of specing anything that's non-standard.Does anyone have experience ordering with them, or horror stories to share? tnks

There's a good thread on ordering from XACD on Bikeradar. I think of you're clear what you want and specify everything, i.e. geometry, tube size, braze ons etc, then you'll get a decent frame for not very much money.
Added: Here's that thread

Thanks!
Some good info in there. There's another one over on roadbike review, which i based a lot of my conclusions on:XACD thinking about a Ti bike with them - RoadBikeReview Forums
It appears that as long as you can understand a technical drawing and know what you want it should come out ok.... :-/

btw, xacd have quoted me a disconcertingly cheap $100 to have the tubes double butted.

If you're planning on cutting down the steerer once you're happy with your stem height, I have a clamp you can borrow. It is the £20 one from Parker.

Thanks Matt. I may take you up on that offer.

Ignorant question.
But which tubes are to be double butted?
Just the main triangle (TT, ST, and DT)?May try to put something together for a Xmas order. I've try to come up with a geometry with nice angles on the seat and head tubes, but that would still fit my short personage. This may involve surgical toe removal though, I'll have to check. Tube dimensions also attached.

I'm no expert, but those tube specs look good to me. The size/thickness are similar to thier stock frames, so the price should remain the same. Beacause of my size, I have gone for thicker stays (premium $30) and larger diameter TT/DT (premium $100).
I haven't confirmed it with them, but will be keeping the stays and HT plain guage. There is some debate over the process xacd use for double butting though... Some info and opinions [ame="http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?p=2054628"]here[/ame]
P.S. That thread highlights an instance where xacd were trying to bullshit that they build for moots!

Basically stock + thicker wall chainstays to cope with my uber thighs* ;)
(actually because I will be doing a fair bit of mountian climbing)P.S. That thread highlights an instance where xacd were trying to bullshit that they build for moots!
The Enigma guy did'nt sound too impressed on the Bike Radar thread either.
Also. As I'd be spec'ing this for myself only (I am shortest adult male in scandinavia, so no-one to resell to anyways). Would extending the seatpost to say 80mm under my total saddle height and buying one of those ISP clamps not be a good idea?
Would defo look cool, would'nt save any weight, but would it ruin the ride?
