Just come up in my twitter feed that spike traps have been found on the trails and paths behind Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar. Look out if you happen to be up there.

Rather incongruously the traps are thought to be placed there by Ron "moment of madness on Clapham common" Davies.

His behaviour, when it comes mountain bikers, is notorious in the area.
There are MTB loops around there called the "Ron Davies Ring," amusingly.
Every time we go to Machen and talk to locals that fucker's name comes up. -

Ron Davies, Cunt, Machen, Caerphilly

It was a glorious afternoon on Kilvey Hill.
Luckily we have no Ron "the boobytrapping cunt" Davis to contend with. He'd never survive the locals here....

So they live near Clyne then?

Port Talbot?

Fuck no. Port Talbot is in the way. I hail from sunny Porthcawl.

That's a very much photographed view with an MTB in the foreground!
I need to get some dirt on a new (to me) bike I bought on the weekend. Will probably head out there at some point for a spin. Do you ride there regularly? Any advice, as I've never ridden there.

Kilvey is a great place to ride, it's technical, rocky, and challenging to ride well. Anyonce can bump and bounce down the trails in a haphazard fashion (I do this well) but to ride it fast takes skill and commitment.
It's best ridden on a full suss. I used to take my hardtail up there but it wouldn't be my weapon of choice. If you're in the Swansea area you could join myself and few other guys for rides there and in Clyne.

That would be great, thanks. I'll pm you my number.
The bike I just bought is a full suss, so should be good for that sort of stuff. The rider less so..... -

STW article talks of people riding normal tyre sizes but all photos on website are fatties.

Can thoroughly recommend WERIDE.pt for guided mountain biking in Sintra. My guide for the day, Duarte Medeiros (enduro/downhill racer and all-round nice guy) set a good pace on the climbs and descents, picked some fantastic trails that tested my abilities just-so and was generally awesome fun. The hire bike, a Transition Patrol, was super-duper once we'd got it set up right, though the flat pedals provided weren't amazing and as I hadn't elected to bring SPD shoes I just had to lump it- I'd say bring your own if that's your thing. And the scenery is just unreal.
A+++, would escape from British winter in Portugal again.

We have some at work. But are you aware the hub shekels are the same and it's just the bearings/axle that are different? They only moved to the evo to open up compatibility with various axle standards
I've just noticed I replied to a 2 year old question 😖
You'll find some doubters of that fact.
