At least there's a B line

Maybe they're just trying to plant some more trees there and they've not sprouted leaves yet...

Looking to upgrade my dropper post to either a KS DropZone or eTen. Anyone any experience of either? The eTen is branded as an ExaForm which seems to be KS's budget line which uses bought in dampers.
Leaning towards getting one with an under saddle lever as remote levers tend to be a bit of a weak point and with the riding I do I can't see using the under saddle lever to be too tricky. Is this a pretty flawed assumption?

Howard has used an under saddle lever for about 4 years

Do those dropper posts offer any kind of suspension effect or are they fixed solid when locked in position?
-
• #9233
Yeah. They aint great for XC (WHY USE A DROPPER ANYWAY?!) but for gravity trail centre stuff they are perfic
-
• #9234
Solid unless they are broken
FYI Fizik Gobi saddles have a tonne of suspension in them.
Unless you have the full carbon one in which case you have an empty wallet and a very painful gooch

I need few tips.
I'm off to Madeira in few weeks mostly for hiking, but was also considering renting MTBs for a day and ride some XC (I am a total MTB noob).
It sort of bothers me paying for a guide that tells me what to do and where to go, is there a way I could source some trails info and map it on my Garmin to be more independent? I had a look on RWGPS (my go to for road cycling) but all I could find was very generic (confusing between hiking trails and mtb trails).Any idea?

I don't recall seeing any/many bike hire places. Have you found one of them?

I've read good reviews of these:
http://freeridemadeira.com/bike-rentals/
http://www.lokolokomadeira.com/mountain-biking/I've found these trails that seem quite close to Funchal (no need for car/van transfer)

Ah, they look decent. We'd not planned to ride anything and there weren't any obvious rental places but looks like you can sort it out online beforehand. If it's like the Azores, they can just drop off the bikes to your hotel when you need them and will collect when you're done.

Yep, that seems straightforward, I was more looking for trails/routes sources to be independent from a guide. I think we could ride up to the top along roads and then pic one of the trails I linked above, they seem quite obvious/hard to miss

Strava? Look for local routes and/or the heatmap for your location. RideWithGPS, etc. too.
-
• #9243
Have you asked the bike shop? They're likely to know the best local routes and might have route maps of the area.
-
• #9244
Didn't really feel like asking routes to the same shop that offers guided tours.. but I might if I don't find other sources
-
• #9245
Are the tours expensive? I know well enough from my own mountain biking experiences that following someone who knows the area is much easier than trying to follow Garmin routes, especially if the trails aren't particularly obvious. And a lot of what makes a day fun is knowing the best ways to link up all the singletrack

XC (WHY USE A DROPPER ANYWAY?!)
This was the B line. I now get droppers for XC (but don't have one)

Thought I was all the way back at the time but I think the landing off the entry throws you forward.
I guess its pretty high stakes riding
