Wondering if you offroading types had much experience of Cannondale leftys as I'm thinking of picking up a Cannodale Rush with them on my ride to work scheme...
It'll make my fixed a little jealous but it'll still get ridden more often

They are stiffer than you might think.
Object, what are you building?

I know they look weird and there's limited compatible hub choice. Bar that I've never heard a bad thing about them.

All I know about the leftys is they are UGLY.

Hammo Object, what are you building?
I've got a 16" DMR trailstar with horizontal slots.
Singlespeed / fixed offroader with Marzocchi forks and fat tyres. -

personally i wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. they are stiff and track well but the damping leaves a lot to be desired they went through stages of using magura and fox damping circuits but they were impossible to service without special tools and i don't think they had uk mud in mind when they designed them. if they are available with normal forks then it will be a better bike imho

Needle bearings mean mucho servicing.
-
• #93
not the positive feedback I'd hoped for really. maybe the more conventional fork is the better option
-
• #94
Rock Shox Pike or Revalation.

I find myself being drawn once again to fully rigid mtb. I love my current bike but boingy front and back cost's me a decent amount in servicing every year.
This is not to say i can't have both (though it's a space thing.) -

any recommendations then for around the £1000 mark...

giant trance, marin? specialized?
you don't get much bounce for 1k i would get a hardtail with better bits -
• #98
I've got a charge!
it's a play bike.
singlespeed, one brake. until I can afford gears and a front brake.this is a cheap bike, made up from ebay bits, s/h stuff off mates and donations
cost about £220 so far..
with £1000 you could rule the world

Whilst I agree with Mr Smith, I have a limited budget and I bought myself a Mongoose Teocali. It is fantastic fun.
There are plenty of bikes out there in that price bracket that you can use, abuse then upgrade, the frames on a lot of them are good enough for this purpose.

Read some pretty good reviews of the Mongoose... Never woulda crossed my mind beinga bike of a bike brand snob, but looking like a possibility.
As a completely different alternative looked at the Charge Duster down evans today fully rigid, but dirt cheap which has really confused maters...
disk brakes and suspension forks that work, it's called progress :-)
