unpacked it, disassembled it, re-greased everything and put it back together in around 10 minutes!

• #7329
Nice one, it's a wicked venue, glad you found the best bits

• #7330
Hah! Would you believe it that I got some strange looks a few nights back when comparing the ease of service of the post to that of an AK47?
You can take the boy out of Belfast...

@jesm @maro_donald and I are gonna be down in swinley this Sunday should anyone fancy joining us.
Will be on a mad mix of bikes from CX to dirt jump but it'll be a laugh if anyone wants a relaxed pace social ride.
Edit: I planned to ride my new 29er but still waiting on parts so I'll be putting my CX bike together a bit earlier than expected, very excited.
Can't remember who was keen to join last time.

Yes! I'll be bringing the hardtail. Might try to send it of some shit and session a few jumps.
-
• #7334
It's all about Peaslake for lolz or Epping for XC these days.
-
• #7335
The hidden trails again? Wouldn't mind trying that little drop on the CX bike although it might be a little awkward with full saddle height... Will probably get bucked off.
-
• #7336
More lolz to be had at Swinley I reckon. Do you even session?
-
• #7337
I don't know peaslake :( swinley is super convenient because we can ride out really easily.
Lemme know when you're going next though, so game for some lolz. 29er should be done in the next couple of weeks. Just need to get the £££ together for a dropper.

You mad bruv.

Sure the riding is better in Peaslake, but if you just want to twat about on trails with mates Swinley is better. Surrey is too srs
-
• #7341
Can go to Hackney BMX track for that
Swinley is crippled by its poor pedal stroke to lolz ratio and its polished slippery aggregate trails. Crowthorne is good but not worth an hour on the train

First proper night ride since the nights started drawing in. Met some very friendly ravers having a party out on the moors...

If anyone is interested got this going on on Saturday 19th of September:

Shimano are warranty replacing my affine 11spd. Am wondering if I should get another or replace it with a 1x11 xt Groupset.
I see so many complaints about the 11spd alfine. :-(
-
• #7348
Rohloff. I don't think fatbikes suit derailleurs.
-
• #7349
Have spoken with my LBS. mechanic there talked about why he thinks I should remain hub geared, the new alfine will have another two year warranty, so can ride it and see if it works better than the previous one. If not will reassess re dérailleur.

"why would you run hub gears when derailleurs are standard at pro level on road and off?"
When your bike returns from a session soaking wet and filthy you can chuck it in the shed with only a quick wipe down of the chain with an oily rag.
Dishing of the wheel is a little less bonkers compared to a freehub setup too IIRC.
You never drop your chain or get chainsuck
I had a great day at Woburn on Sunday.
Lots of fun, tight single track with sharp little rises and drops, smooth sandy bits and sweepers through the woods. I only missed front suspension on a rocky 30+ mph downhill slope by the golf course and Iron Age fort (!)
The jump bit is rebuilt and is srs bsns, lots of big bikes, full face helmets and shin pads. I might go back on the bmx. :)
I didn't see a warden until 15 minutes before we left, but £5 felt like fair value for a day out.
