You can take the fixie-skidder out of London....

That bag is full of spare derailleurs.
-
• #6829
The bag meant that Howard fixed his double puncture on the first lap.

Hydration, I'd imagine, given the lack of bottles on the frame. I use a Camelbak for 2 and 4 hour MTB races, as I've never really liked the combination of frame-mounted water bottles and shit-filled mud.

Again? That boy is cursed when it comes to punctures, cursed I tell you.
-
• #6832
Water you big goon. It was frickin boiling.
Also as above without it it would have been a long walk back from the fire road of razor sharp gravel without the tools in it.
-
• #6833
Did you find my inner tube? I didn't attach it well enough to my Camelbak.

Found Josh:

Y u no tubeless?
-
• #6836
Tubeless cuts on sharp stones - amazed he got them to seal.
-
• #6837
I was. Unlike MTB tyres there just isn't enough air in a 32mm rubber to drive sealant into a cut at the pressure that's required for it to self seal whilst clattering along gravel fire road with huge pot-holes in it at 18mph.
Basically I had to stop, pull out the valve core, dump a load more sealant in, replace the core, pump up to 40psi with finger over the cut and using gravity to help the sealant form a plug. Which kinda worked, until I punctured again 1000 yards down the road and had to repeat the process.
There we some people who carried no tools or spares with them - they had a long walk down that fire road back to base after suffering a similar fate.
To me, travelling to wales for 15 minutes of bike riding is border-line stupid, so I fixed things as best I could and finished the race as a training ride.
And as I'm an aged pack-fill senior, that's all these rides ever are, anyway, a race against yourself, so no biggy really.

I have looked into my crystal ball and foresee 'Howard on 29er'.
-
• #6839
Yeah I might spend the impending payout from last years' RTC on a Scalpel or FSi.
-
• #6840
I didn't see any fatbike or 29+ punctures.
;-)
-
• #6841
I had significant fat-bike envy I tells ya.
Think the overall winner did it on a rigid 29er with mahoosive but not quite 29er+ rubber.

• #6842
Finally.....
-
• #6843
I'd probably have to get CSG to get one in especially - must be at least no other people in the country who want one.
-
• #6844
Scalpel?! Hwrd pls.... full suss >>>>>>>>
FSI for sure :-)

I'd love to take that to Bike Park Wales
-
• #6848
A snip at £3k.
Yikes! Think I'll wait until I'm your age, before getting anything like that.
-
• #6849
Maybe I should just learn how to ride a biek
Someone lend me some watts. I need about 100 extra at tempo. Pls.

Time for kitten killing - 29er HT = significant comfort improvement to the extent FS much less needed. This aged wreck managed to do 2 x 13hr races on some pretty rough terrain on a 29er HT without wanting FS.
@Howard - y u ride through the undergrowth?
