has anyone riden a Dartmoor Hornet? I slightly fancy trying an Alu frame, as have always riden steel. Just for a change really.
-
• #5735
I know a guy who had one, said it was a fun play bike but a very stiff rear end.
-
• #5736
I guess that is the forever discution between steel and Alu, does the stiffer rear end mean you have more drive and grip, or a more skitty feel to the ride, which may make it more fun......

More to do with the design of the frame than the material. Ideally you want some vertical movement for the reason you suggest.
-
• #5738
True, I should probibly stick with the on one Inbred as it rides well and fits, I just like stripping and building new bikes! Or change just for fun, can always sell on the frame I like least. Sunday afternoons are all about finding an excuse for anew bike project!

Just completed the new Cafall trail at Cwmcarn. It's like they've built it arse backwards, wide and steep on the way up then very narrow and not that fast on the way down. Still good fun and braking bumps that weren't there last week have started to appear. Oh and 7 tight uphill hairpins in a row is just tedious.
Linkeh for anyone interested - http://www.strava.com/activities/121268789

Howard, that spider looks... fragile?
-
• #5742
^^ Well, it's ok. It's a huge amount of climbing for not much imo. If you're traveling this far you're better off going to Afan or even Machynlleth. The trail at Machynlleth is really good btw.

I'm coming from Devon, I'll do up and back in a day. I know Afan really well, so it's just an easy option, might go to brechfa from time to time. And I do quite often go up to mid-wales for some proper riding (ultra-endurance stuff, and bikepacking trips).

Yeah, Cwmcarn is only 10mi each loop so not that much. I'm going to go back to riding sheep tracks in the wilds.

Yah. It's cannondale. What's a few stress risers between friends?

I'm looking to get something like this, or maybe even this exact bike, but don't know enough about the different years / models / wisdom of buying 2nd hand carbon, to drop a grand on it. I tested a current season one but it was way over budget. Anyone know anything about F29s or can point me in the right direction? Ta.

Hai.
£1000? Hmm.
That's quite possibly stolen.
Ignoring that and the nasty impact mark on the TT, Flash is racing XC bike. Is that what you are after?
-
• #5749
Pretty much I think. I'm looking for a light hardtail 29er, I tried 27.5 and it was fun but i'm still undecided. I'm digging that lefty vibe plus have always been into 'dales.

It's probably done nothing more than the occasional race around the gnarly trails of Thetford Forest :-)
