Now it's you throwing spanners.
Not sure how that would work out. Saturday is my free day as her indoors is at work, Sunday is our day off together, I'd need a day pass from her for Sunday.
Is anyone else planning on riding this weekend? What are your votes? -

Shit I really didn't think that through did I?
Sorry mr Timmy. -

Cold is fine it just means no stopping.

Might be a bit of a stupid question, do you need horizontal drop outs on a ss mtb? Easier to get the chain tight and nice, but can use a chain tensioner?

Johan why don't you have a look at this?* http://www.londonfgss.com/thread9694.html

Thanks, but I'm looking for a hardtail SS. Lovely bike though! Shame to sell it!

I love it but never ride it- have a go if you like, it's been sitting in my understairs cupboard since Tommy saw it and called it "the cleanest mountain bike in London".

Fair point - I might be up for a ride in the cold. Trails should be in good condition at least! Do you fancy Dorking or Swinley?
-
• #562
If anyone fancies the far end of the south downs way I'm up for it as no one seems to want to buy my bike?
-
• #563
I want to head out and think Swinley would be ace!

Checked the train times and looks like the 8.39 from waterloo is the best bet. Gets to Bagshot at 10.19 so we'll be in the woods about 10.30

Spent the morning at Aston Hill today - really finding my rhythm on the berms and I'm loving it even more now.
Does anyone else ride DH? Fancy a group ride somewhere?

So I totally failed on Sunday (Choosing to have a domestic day) and this weekend is looking like a right off too. The weekend after?

I'm out until March now. Desperately looking like it might fall to the annual thing, how sad.

If any of you fancy a weekend away for a jolly good ride.

Laced up to:
I just built a couple of these up with Hope hubs: Pro 2 on the front and trials/ss on the rear. Good so far. LOUD.
Do you folks do these rides on SS then? If so, what ratio do you go for?

32:16 on 26" wheels is a fairly typical off road single speed drivetrain, then gear up or down depending on how strong you are and how steep the trails are that you'll be riding on. I generally run 34:18 on my SS just to make the climbing a little easier and because I'm not as fit as I was a couple years ago.

Ok bump this sucker up. Just ordered some fatties for my CrossCheck and am itching to get muddy. Where is the best place to go for a XC ride for a SWer on the weekend?

I'm going to start spamming this thread now- sorry all.

SW London? I'd recommend the hills around Dorking - easy to get to on the train from Clapham Junction and you can get onto farm tracks straight away to take you to the proper riding. Lots of details if you go back over this thread. What tyres have you got for your crosscheck? I took mine out several times with Bonty 1.8s and it was a good laugh. Not as much of a laugh as my 29er though!
I've just checked my Diary, I can do this weekend but only on Sunday.
I'd plan for an early leave, back by 16:00hours kind of day.
