Can someone tell me how you get a SS cog onto an mtb hub without it digging the hell out of an ally hope cassette body?
Hope freehubs are known for this TBH. A wider cog would help.
These are proper nice, and stainless steel. Have a couple myself.

Have we discussed 650b vs 29er on here yet?
Someone on MTBR summed this up brilliantly for me.

Its no wonder the industry loves them.
26 v 29 is hardly a massive difference. The pros and cons of each even out. Why we need a middle option is beyond me.
(I'm only bitter cuz the industry should be investing producing cheaper fat components)

Have it on my cargo bike. Its an important interface between heavy as feck bike, and expensive IGH.
My plastic belt cog has yet to even smudge my Hope freehub.

That would be fair enough, if the increase made it worth for you giant freaks. My 2.55 Weirwolfs are nearly 30", I guess the bigg RRs are similar, and the krampus wheels are 30.7"
I'm 5'7" and SS 29er handles fine. The big wheels work well for this set-up for my taste. If I was to go with suspension, I would'nt hessitate to grab some 26" wheels. I simply cant see why you'd need something inbetween. Whats next 675s for those 650 - 29er fence sitters?

If we take your statement at face value, you have made the case for 650b. If we assume that on a graph of x=wheel diameter and y=arbitrary measure of "faster" and f(x)=y, you're saying f(26)=f(29). Taking it as read that f(24)f(26) and obviously also f(27.5)>f(29)
tl;dr
If 26 and 29 are equally fast and bigger or smaller wheels are slower, 27.5 is almost certainly faster than either 26 or 29. -

Is Twrch shit then? I haven't been, only been to Afan really, which isn't bad, but very clearly man-made. Not enough rooty bits or drops etc. The new bike park bit is as smooth as a BMX track, which is a bit lame imo.

I find the Twrch pretty good, albeit I didn't see it in its previous guise. When I can get round without hurting myself i'll consider myself awesome at bicycling.

It used to be really good 5-6yrs ago before it started getting busy. So many corners have been straightlined and there are massive braking bumps so you can't take any speed into a corner. There are a few sections that not many people ride which have been there for 10yrs+ which are still great. I tend to ride off into the hills and link up to a good bit at the top. Nowhere near as technical but much more pleasant.

It's not nonsense (unless you have a critique of the maths, in which case bring it), and you can substitute whatever performance parameter you like in place of faster; obviously I'm a racer so faster=better, but Smallfurry wasn't prescriptive, he said all the pros and cons cancelled out regardless of which performance measure you use

He didn't, but it was implied because he failed to state under which performance measure the pros and cons exactly balanced out, therefore he must have meant they were in perfect balance for any relevant output measure.
Anyway, stop taking it so seriously; he made a statement which lent itself to a bit of piss taking, that's all. By analogy with his argument, I might say that since I can do 25mph on my local TT course on either a 90" gear or 110" gear, there is no point in trying any ratio between those two.
