I believe it also has a higher ratchet count to provide more positive engagement.
Thought you could buy the standard hub in 36 or 48 engagements?
BTW the pic is shamelessly stolen from here.

I vote 08:54 train just so I don't have to get up at 07:00.
@Prav good idea.
Does anyone have a o/s map of the area? like Momentum had ideally as it was laminated.
-
• #354
I have a laminated map from Nirvana cycles, I think It covers the ranmore / leith area.
will check it tonight. -

Timmy, Nicely done
Brick, Polo! & early train.
Gabes & Prav, See you there.
SmallFurry, I though it was only the 36 ratchet for the Pro II and the 48 was special for the trailshub
Prav, Bombholes you say! -
• #356
Would explain why they cost more.

I seriously considered getting one for my current bike as I never intended to run gears and certainly don't need 9 on the rear (Though I would now just so I could run an X.0 rear mech) but in the end it came down to a question of longeviety, the standard hub has more uses and a more versatile bike is more likely to get used (especially considering I no longer live in the dales).
If, however, I was building an SS 29er I would either run the hope trials or a king SS hub. End of.

if this weather keeps up you can ride ranmore side too (the chalk is normally unridable in the wet)
it's fun watching people ride abba-zabba and blind terror for the first time.
abba-zabba is a steep bombhole with a tree on the opposite side that you have to ride around into another bombhole, basically if you don't brake on the way down you get enough speed to carry you up round the tree. if you don't you just slide back down on your backside. -

Sounds fair!

Mr SMith, I like the sound of that.
Small Furry, If I had the time to do it justice I'd have buy a Surly pugsley built with one SS wheel and one geared. I rode Scott Not Scot's just before he sold it and it was hands down the most fun mountain bike I've ever ridden, silly for the sake of it. -

+1 on that Object. I'd love to take one of them and ride around northern Sweeden in the snow camping out.

Looking at that picture makes me want to buy one (again).

MrSmith - any chance we will bump into you round there? It would be nice, but I feel MrSmiths is much like the northern lights, the more you seek it, or speak of it, the less chance it shall come!

possibly maybe :-) not been out on the mtb at all recently. keep setting the alarm then going back to sleep and making do with a road pootle later in the day.
later in the week when i have time i'll sort out some directions to blind-terror. google maps isn't much help as everything is covered in trees so i cant do a g-map for you.

They weren't like the bomb holes around coldharbour, more like an area of smallish (6 to 10 foot) drop offs and gullies. I've done a little gmap of roughly where we were, with the gully area around the fourth and fifth markers, starting furthest from Leith Hill tower.

Stop it! I can't come this weekend.
Are people going to go out next weekend?

I never realized 10 ft was a small drop off!
@ fbr + tommy -perhaps we can find that bombhole maze that we passed absolutely knackered on the way up to leith tower? object would love that place.. and I can practise drop-ins + crashing.
