  • Moose cycles in Colliers Wood will hire you a nice bike for 24 hours- that’s where I rented a Hightower from.

  • Thanks.

Was your rental for similar purposes? I keep looking at Jibb V2, but that may be due to your RAAW influencer marketing.

  • Yes- I wanted to ride one properly before purchase as it was a lot of money.

My Jibb v1 frame will be available when I get back from the Alps and buy a v2, I’m obviously a fan but the media seems to like the bikes too.

  • I thought you had a Madonna and a Yalla?

@Dammit maybe interested in your jibb frame when you list it. Please lemme know when it goes up for sale.

  • I have a Jibb v1, Madonna v2.2 and a Yalla v1.

Seen to day in Intersport Briancon:

  • Would you want it with the Ohlins air shock? A hand-wavey answer is fine/expected.

  • Quite probably, yes.

    Is it XL?

  • Yep

  • Also @TotalShanner

Whose mtb shoes are you using. I now have Morton’s Neuroma (started last year) and it is never improved by going riding.

Who makes large toe box mtb shoes, anything that narrows around my toes compresses and antagonises the nerve.

Have been waiting for a month now for NHS referral and have had to resort to Vivobarefoot shoes, sandals and now have some Hoka trainers on order to help alleviate the compression in my foot.

    Edited shoes for flat pedals.

  • I had both feet operated on and then moved to Singapore when they started to come back- cold really triggers them.

    Also: Adidas Terrex

  • Is that the trail cross instead of the freerider?

  • I don't have a condition (unless hobbitism is one) but have found Adidas to never work for me and I've tried loads (friend gets huge discount), Vaude ended up being the best wide shoes, for me.

  • Morton’s Neuroma

    How does that manifest?

I have this weird nervey thing I've been meaning to get checked out on my right foot. Feels like a pinched nerve next to the ball of my foot. Seems to only happen when walking and I've basically ignored it because it's not too annoying yet.

    https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/mortons-neuroma/

Dunno. Not sure if it's the same symptoms. I also noticed the tendon across the bottom of the foot feels tight in the morning so perhaps it's something that just needs physio/work to free up and the other thing will go away.

  • Pain between the metatarsals. Often a burning or stabbing sensation, even when the foot is elevated or when I am in bed. Frequently the feeling my sock is bunched under the ball of my foot even though the sock is flat against the sole of my foot.

  • Yeah, doesn't sound the same. Mine is only when pressure is on the foot, mostly walking.

I thought it was my hiking boots and swapped the inners out for thinner ones but I've since been getting it in my Five Tens as well so something's up but I don't know what yet. It hasn't got painful enough for me to see anyone about it yet. I need to be basically unable to walk before I seek medical attention. Pray4hippy

  • I'm late to the party, but I really enjoyed this. I did it too (I was one of the poor souls on a CX bike) and my lessons were much the same as yours. 90k in Snowdonia is not the same as 90k in Epping/Surrey really resonated hahaaa. The rock gardens every few k became quite tiresome on 33mm tyres.

My main takeaway was that it would've been a lot more fun on a hardtail.

  • Happened to be passing Guildford for work reasons and popped into YT dealership... had a quick blip around the carpark on a new Izzo Core 4...
I'd have liked the suspension to have been harder but it's super fun and flicky, accelerating felt super sprightly.

Would like one a lot :(

  • I need to go into that YT dealership

  • They don't have an overwhelming stock of things to admire but they do do 5hr test rides for £15 (money goes towards trail building charities)...
I'll try and pencil in a test ride next time!

  • Slowly increasing pain in the area of the fore foot behind the outermost two toes, although it was quite diffuse as an ache it was quite specific as a shooting pain. Didn’t have to be standing to feel it, but in general it was when walking - however, sometimes at night/with the foot elevated it throbbed.

Got much, much worse in cold weather, the event I remember is having to stop whilst out walking because I didn’t want the pain of putting my left foot down again, and had to spend a few seconds getting ready for it.

Had it operated on and it went away - the operation was a bit of a mess (or rather the lack of post-operative care had rather unfortunate results) but it did the trick. However, possibly due to being partially salamander it’s now slowly coming back in my left foot (the first one operated on, both feet have been done now).

  • Hunt trail wide 27.5 opinions? Currently between them or Hope Fortus.

  • If you want hubs that actually work, Hope.

  • Speaking of Hope, I fitted some V4s to my eeb yesterday to replace the fairly underpowered Code R ones that it came with. The green race pads are ferocious. It's very nice to be able to brake when I need to, rather than constantly have to drag the rear brake at 50% in preparation for when you need to slow down for a corner.
I'm more chuffed that I could reuse the brake hose, because I really didn't fancy dropping the motor out to put new hose in

  • Much excite
