That path looks like exactly the reason I bought a full sus, my Orange Crush just wasn't cutting it through the rock gardens of West Yorkshire. There are definitely a fair few Cotics amongst forum members.
@platypus is right, I've never ridden in the south where a hard tail wasn't the tool for the job, 15mm travel might have been a bit much, it's also nice to have something a bit lighter, and there's certainly nothing wrong with alu, or 27.5 either.
@Howard 67.5 degrees, practically unride-able these days.
@pit - you've had more bikes than I've had hot dinners.

It took a while but I finally figured out what I need for my riding. So I'm sorted for the next 3 months.

This seems like great advice and I'm gonna take it!
Unless fundamentally crap I'll still go for the Chameleon if it ends for an amazing price just because it's pretty. In the meantime I'll look for steel and second hand wheels.

I had a look at the at the chameleon, but I deemed it way too see expensive for what it is, and also it's got a very steep head angle.

Nice paint though

A bike that can take 400psi in the shock but 4psi in the tyres?
-
• #15934
Be careful with Bikeinn, they are notorious for offering low prices but not actually having any stock, so it can take an age for your order to actually be fulfilled.

I'm all about the no paint these days

Love that singular! Regret selling my rigid fork when I see that
I too did as suggested and bought a v cheap (postage only) used frame, new forks, mix of new and used group, new brakes, lightly used wheels. Full bike spec is = about £900 new I’d guess but set up for my needs and cost about £400-£450 total -

I am SPD only. Is this what you are using?

Excellent news! Enjoy :)

I'm sorted for the next 3 months
So until you start riding it then
-

It'll go into sotrage till I'm ready to sell it at a loss.
-
• #15941
unless the Chameleon comes in steel, that is not recommended
-
• #15942
May have to go to 500 psi in teh shock and at least 8 psi in tyres after the lockdown .
-
• #15943
But...The lovely paint? :(
-
• #15945
If you want a chameleon, get a chameleon. The £669 price tag isn't too outlandish for the frame only. It's a versatile and well thought out frame, and alu is fine as a frame material.

• #15946
It's got some excellent adjustable dropouts too, for when you realise that gears are for old people
-
• #15947
If one came up secondhand it would be very hard to resist.
-
• #15948
for when you realise you are old and need a Rohloff

I do like wearing sandals...

Socks and spd sandals or GTFO
They're about a kilo each! Got to be careful with MTB tyres, lots of manuacturers do about a million different compounds and constructions. They look pretty low end.
