Like mountain biking is short of a genre.

How else am I going to justify another bike that I'll never ride?
-
• #15504
Yep, a nice pair, send me a PM

Will an 11 speed Shimano MTBs cassette work with an 11 speed SRAM MTB shifter and mech?
-
• #15509
Yes. I run a mix of gx and slx and it was fine. But I did it the other way round shimano gears, SRAM cassette.
-
• #15510
Yes no problem

Does anyone have a recommendation for a 29” 30mm-ish aluminium rim? I want Hope bling, but not Hope rim weight.

• #15513
I'd probably get a DT XM481 or EX511
-
• #15514
DT EX511? I quite like all of DTs similar offerings and have their wider 27.5 version on my bike.

Beaten to it.

I rode some ex511 around Kyrgyzstan and rate them.
And i rode xm421 in morocco.XM481 is 30mm internal too
*NB I didn't pay for them, but they are cheap.

I've got a Spank Oozy 345 that no one wanted to buy off me...

Ah I came here to post that! Will Longden is a bit overshadowed in this but is a real nice guy. I did level 2, maybe even level 1, coaching course with him years ago and his skills were unreal. Whilst we chatted about a basic kids skills drill on a car park he rode round in circles backwards, rode over a bench a few times, held an endo while he checked his phone etc. Basically can’t stand still, and never sits down, he just hops on his bike and does tricks.

Love the banter between them.

Thanks for the rim recommendations.
I've got a couple of questions-
Why are fork tuning guides about 20psi higher for suggested sag? This Marzocchi's guide suggests 67psi where in reality it's about 50psi for me with 20% sag, and it was the same with the Rockshox.
Why are Hope E4s such a pain in the arse to get lined up without any rub?

Wet and mildly windy tomorrow and it’s been raining for months - so Cwmcarn or Afan for the day? Feel Forest of Dean will be an absolute mud fest. Afan seems pretty all weather but exposed, never been to Cwmcarn.

If you’re hitting Cwmcarn the Cafall trail will probably be more sheltered that Twrch.
I’m busy tomorrow or I would have joined you.
Both will be rideable in the wet though.
That's downcountry territory.
