That's not just a hanger. Mech looks bent.
Could have happened in transit to be fair. Hopefully they send new hanger and mech and pay the lbs fee.
Though depending how it was packaged I'd wonder if the frame took a shove too and be a bit concerned.
Perhaps rejection is best.

The frame looks perfect, and the box is totally undamaged, which leads me to believe it was busted before it even went near the box. The rear wheel was bolted in so hoping any side on shunt (if any) to that area won't have impacted the frame itself.

Planet-X buying experience:
Ordered bike last Monday, website indicated frame was in stock and would be built the following day, and that I would get an email within 48 hours with a delivery time.
Radio silence.
Message them on Thursday on their awful online chat to ask what the deal is, and they tell me they are just waiting for wheels to come back in stock on 27FEB, after which it will go into the build queue. Dafuk? Why wasn't that communicated sooner. They offer to upgrade wheels FOC because of the confusion.
If these are the upgrade wheels, I'd hate to see the actual wheels...
Very different experience to buying a solaris max from cotic back in August, who were fabulous to deal with.

I've also had a very good experience dealing with Cotic, answered all my questions swiftly, and communicated every step until my frame arrived

Yeah my Big Dog was AWOL for quite a while. Had to pester them through the chat before they told me the thru-axles they'd ordered came out shite (or something) so they had to have some new ones manufactured. Ended up being a month late or something.
Had similar problems with my knock-off Jones bars which took like 4 months to actually arrive.
But it was a £175 brand new steel frame, we aren't paying for customer service...
They are employee owned now apparently so perhaps things will change a little bit.

Having slept on it, the whole experience has really put me off owning the bike. Have asked them to collect today and process refund. I'll do a few enduros on the cotic and forget about xc racing for a while.

forget about xc racing for a while
This is the best approach I find.

Slightly curious article on Singletrack that reminds us that even when we are close to civilisation whilst - heaven forbid! - actually riding our bikes it could still be a long wait for the ambo should things go very, very wrong.

I think the air ambulance actually sits on standby at Swinley these days.

I hope they get a donation from those who pass

170? That'd be perfect for Epping.

They even sent you some bubble-wrap to land on when you crash

Don't fancy trying an XC race on the Cotic? Could end up saving you some money, if you hate it

I've done a few mud sweat and gears xc races on a genesis high latitude over the years and enjoyed it to some degree. I think the cotic is just a bit too slack and heavy to even think of trying to lug around an xc race.

So much quicker to just bury them

170?
Obviously I couldn't ride anything with less than 300mm travel. No in reality it's 140mm 29".

Carry on making comments like that and I'm sending Chris Porter round.

Anyone got any 26" rim brake wheels so I can get the other halfs old GT running again?
That mech is fucked. Invoke your distance selling rights and reject it.
