  • Agh I hate mtb standards. Bought boost wheel set, all good, got my head around that. Bought Sonder boost forks, cheap and fit the brief. Good. No. Forks are quick release boost drop out. Wtf is that?!
Do I need adapters or something?
This whole process is blowing my small mind

  • QR boost is to boost as QR is to thru-axle.

i.e, it's 7mm narrower at the rear and uses a QR skewer, with a 9 or 10mm external diameter protrusion to slot into the dropouts, and is utterly pointless. What hubs has your wheelset got? If they use removable endcaps, the QR caps on the boost hubshell should give you the right configuration.

  • Thanks that confirms what I was realising slowly. I’m tempted to just send the fork back!

  • Yeah you should. QR boost needs to die

  • Bring back pinch bolts imo

  • The painter is being shit and my new biek is not going to be ready to build for Wales next weekend.
Anyone fancy lending me a fancy bike? :/

  • You want a hardtail built around a £150 frame by a guy who has never built a mtb before?

Might be a touch big actually. I'd probably size down if buying again. Length is fine but I'd prefer a shorter seat tube

  • Well on the plus side I know the bits I sold you work...

You actually posted a pic of that thing yet? Keen to see how it turned out

  • I only have this terrible one
    Needs a decent saddle still
Cable routing has been sorted since

  • Have someone I know vouch for you and you can borrow my 19” Stanton Sherpa. Pick up on route in Newport

  • Have someone I know vouch for you

@Aroogah ? He seems to know everybody

  • I was at his wedding

  • Stanton Sherpa

He's going to Bike Park Wales to do a drops course IIRC.

i mean yeah I used to ride my 160mm slackline there but Sherpa? Non

  • That's an extremely generous offer. Would actually work, logistically.

I did meet @Aroogah once. He seemed like a fine chap with excellent taste in forum jerseys (and curious taste in wheel decals, though I wouldn't hold that against him).

  • Well considering the last time I went I was on a 650B hardtail with a broken fork and broken dropper...

  • You really know how to have fun!

  • Ridden some reds there on it but I suppose to get the most out of BPW a bit of squidge is no bad thing.

Just rent one of their Trek Remedy fleet?

  • @furious_tiles is one of the forum OGs and a completely top bloke. Not only was he at my wedding but he was also at a completely different wedding where he was part of the grooms side and my wife and I were part of the brides extended party. That's two weddings we have shared. TWO!

@TvH is also a top man although his dislike for bands that share his name does make him slightly suspect.

  • The rental was what I was resigned to. That said, I really didn't like the last Remedy I rode, and it's a lot of cash. Doesn't help me for the next day, either.

I wasn't really expecting a response in the first place, but I've always wanted to try a Stanton and I'd be really very keen!

  • It's more ignorance than dislike, admittedly. Soundtrack to the next Badgers ride?

  • You’re welcome to take it for the weekend, it’ll easily take the blues at BPW and if done Viscous Valley, Wibbly Wobbly and Hot Stepper/Surfin Bird Reds on it.

You can rent Bird full sus bikes at Cwmcarn but I don’t think you can take them offsite

  • Looks like a good fit to me. Maximal dropper utilisage

  • Soundtrack to the next Badgers ride?

    No soundtracks!

  • Amazing. I'll PM you

  • You say the kindest words x
