I concede it is a bit off. But I wasnt pushy or aggro about it. You'll have to trust me on that one.
ps if you think its a bad idea for me to even ask or approach them, please say it to me at the court, I dont / wont mind advice, honest.
polo related conversations in real life are usually more constructive than on the forum... !!
less heat, more light. -

Yes of course I trust that you were nice about it Kev.
I'm just pointing out the old polo ethos that might have been forgotten about how we shouldn't take over the courts and throw ins take precedent.
And again I don't want to piss on the league parade, but 4 throw ins interfered with in 2 weeks is disappointing for me.
And to reiterate, I'm worried that this will the case for a lot of weeks.I do understand there is limited availability though.
No heat, just a discussion.

I was friendly and open with him
Was that dublinkevin "friendly and open". How many swear words did it involve? ;)
I think people shouldn't get too worked up about separating throw-ins/league games/team games.
It's the same people playing, whatever you label it as, and every team/league session I've been to this autumn has had throw ins as well. There are always ways of compromising so that nobody misses out. Lets just play polo.
I'm certainly happy to have league games happen at any throw-in night I'm at, even if I'm not playing league games.

imo league games shouldn't be played
-Mitch on a tuesday or thursday, hopefully mitch will get fixed and we will get a reliable way of booking lights at downs so we can play league games where ever throw-ins aren't happening on tuesday and thursdays

It was fine John, I limited it just to shit and piss, but absolutely not fuck and cunt. Because there were kids with the guy.

I get your point Joni (about the league interference), I think its probably been a bit worse than usual at Newington this week, with Mitch being out of action, the problems with getting the lights turned on at Downs, and with the fixture deadline coming up... I still think the windows should be stretched a bit longer, although I guess things will always be left to the last minute.
Fingers crossed Mitch will get sorted out, and that other court that Lockett mentioned will be usable, I think there will be less hassle then.

I think you shouldn't think how people should think.
Have an opinion of course, but know that before even you started polo John, we used to have this as an unwritten rule. It's not the same people playing if A cats do league on B cat night, or men at ladies.
I personally don't want to stand round in the cold for half an hour whilst a league game happens at a throw in night. I think ladies polo won't happen when there are league games which is a terrible shame (there are at least 4 ladies who are not active on the forum to discuss this) but when it's the 4th time in 2 weeks, I'm concerned this will be a regular occurrence and that's 2 nights out of 3 I won't be going to. Obviously this doesn't please me.
#still not angry, still discussing

Obviously this is only my personal opinion, but for me Tournaments > League > Team Games > Throwins. That's the order I'd like to see polo prioritised in. But that's just my view.

I know things change but it's worth reiterating points that are still valid as people weren't here when they were discussed.

Sorry John, but like ts I dislike your order of things. It's obviously an order that changes for people not in the league!
Cheers for the honesty J.
As kev mentioned it has been particularly bad because of the terrible state of north courts, and also because it's the last week before the deadline. Were there any inturuptions to throwins in three weeks preceding this? If not we are looking at five inturuptions a month? Which isn't too bad?
J, do you mind (and are you including) what spring break did on Wednesday which was to miss out on a round of throwins? I find it hard to find objection with that?
I'm afraid that due to leaving it till the last minute we're kinda forced to do Monday, so I'm going to take TS's quote as gospel and that we are allowed to, but I do think intermediates has become just as established as beginners and should really receive the same sanctity as other throwins. (except in this case :-/ )
Also I note that the not taking both courts comment is only really mentioned in relation to league games, it's been pretty standard practice at souths to spread on to it as soon as we have 12 players (assuming it's free, obviously)

Nice response L.
No one is going to stand in the way of a league game in throw - ins, as I said I'm concerned that this will be a regular occurrence especially if the court situ doesn't get sorted.
Spring Break handled it well but it does mean standing around for about half an hour which personally I"m not keen on in the sweaty cold.
Yes there were interruptions preceding this. If this continues then for me it's 2/3rd of my polo interrupted which I don't think anyone would be happy with. It's a contentious issue every year, it will be fine I'm sure.

Well, yes. I guess we just want different things out of polo.

Edit: was in reply to wick's post:
Yeah, they handled it well enough for you to goal ref while there were still throwins if I remember correctly :)But you are right we need to remember the people who aren't in the league and so are just standing around. People for whom the order of importantance is
Throwins > competition. -

Fail
none of us would be able to play competitive polo if it wasnt for throwins
established throwin nights > league games (though if people are happy to allow a game, the players should deffo sit out some shuffles like SB did) -

This is the way things have been for the past 3 leagues ,and its awesome that there are more pickup nights starting, but league games dont take forever and we gotta play them somewhere.
Established throw in nights are sacred.
