No news is good news Ved. Was in a lovely hotel in a tiny village with no internet access, but a great view of a nuclear power station.
Ride report is in the Tour thread, and here are some pics. In order they are, our start pen, a photo showing why Campag jersies aren't suitable for events like this, the view of Ventoux from Bedoin, the view back up to the summit after finishing and the salt marks in my shorts.

the pic of your overloaded jersey stretching down the back of your knees is hilarious. is it real? looks like a dodgy photoshop job.

It's not me. It hasn't been photoshopped. It was very definitely for real.

shouldn't that be ' Col du Notting' ?

Not that I know jack shit about French (or hills for that matter) but isn't Col the road over a hill/mountain? If so then Notting Hill is reasonable. Probably not though. Anyway, Col du Notting lacks the totally awesome, side-splitting humour of my original post.

The word 'du' is a contraction of 'de' and 'le' (masculine article). It's a bit difficult to do this in English owing to the absence of grammatical gender ... one of the things that I can't understand is the name 'Etape du Dales', which 'du' is singular, freighted with a non-existent grammatical gender, and 'Dales' is plural. Stupendous sportive naming fail.
There isn't a 'col' on Notting Hill as such, as a col is a passage between (usually) two higher mountains, including (I think) the valleys leading up and down. It doesn't refer to the road itself.
So, there basically isn't a correct rendering of this in English.

Yes.. and arguing about this is more retarded than actually using Tour de West London or some other humorous Frenchesque statement. I bidon you adieu!

French for hill is colline.
Colline de Notting?
Col du colline de Notting?
Col do Mont Notting?
Mont Notting?Or what Hippy said.

Col du colline de Notting?
It's 'la colline', i.e., 'col de la colline de Notting' (which it wouldn't come out as ;) ).

I just do it in Word--excellent keyboard shortcuts for accented characters. Try Ctrl plus the character that looks like the diacritic, e.g. a comma for the cedille, then press the character. In the above case, Ctrl+' and then 'e'. Or use the reverse apostrophe for an accent grave. ^ for accent circonflexe, etc.

Just entered the Burgess Hill Rumble on 30.08.09.
95 very unpleasant miles through hilly Sussex and Kent.
Regretting it already.

Regretting it already.Don't be such a blouse. You finished the Tour of Ireland, bastardo! Anything you do from now on that is shorter or flatter is going to be considered by me to be Pathetic Training Miles for the Physically Weak and Feeble of Mind (tm).
Nice one!
Good pic from Boardman's Twitter.
