Perfect cheers, probably use them for long rides only as overshoes work well enough for short ride.

Lake CX145's- anyone seen a pair in the UK?

• #604
New pair of Northwave Celsius Artics in my possession and awaiting cleats for the first really cold day of work. I have pretty poor circulation and last winter was particularly hard, so I have high hopes. Contrary to some advice I've seen knocking around I went a size up (43>44) and they fit fine, if slightly generously, with a pair of sealskinz on - tight lacing makes them a-ok. Should leave room for an extra pair of liner socks or a single pair of really thick hiking socks if needs be.
I too have done the gaffer taping of mesh vents - they'll give you another 2-3c of leeway but I find even with a pair of hench sealskinz and MT500 overshoes, below 0c/after a couple of hours they might as well not be there. They'll stop the wind from chilling the feet, but the eventual creep of chilling is unstoppable. Fine for commuting though.

There is a few small stores that stock a good lake range. I'll have a look. I'm gagging to get some Lakes anyway.

Use the extra volume to add thicker insoles. 45NRTH do some good ones with aero gel in.
I have a 100 ltr tub of aero gel in the lab. Really need to figure out clever way to use some.

Is there anywhere in london that has a selection of winter shoes to try? evans have loads on their website but absolutely none in any of their stores, only in the warehouse.

I bought this pair of Sidi's for fairly cheap this summer, not sure what model it is. The look like Diablo's but they have a different color and slightly different decals and panels, no Gore-tex logos too. They're really comfy but I haven't been able to test them yet.

I actually find that wearing the DeFeet Slipstream as a normal sock result in my feet being nice and toasty despite claim to be an overshoes.
Does anyone do that as well?

I know of people who just buy large sports socks and use them as overstocks.
If you met them would it be like a collision of matter and anti matter?

The MW80 had a road sibling- the RW80.
Now that the MW80 has evolved into the MW81 I had expected to find an RW81- but it doesn't seem to exist.
Am I looking in the wrong place, or did Shimano decide that everyone should use MTB cleats in winter?

Don't you already have a winter boot thread?

Searching for "winter boots" doesn't bring it up, just a bunch of for sale threads.

Now it does.

No sign of RW81s. Maybe they saw that I'd bought RW80s so knew they'd achieved perfection?

Only SJS seems to sell the RW-80.
Searching for "winter boots" still doesn't bring up this thread btw.

Yes it does. You're probably hitting a different server which either has cached search results or hasn't got the updated thread title. Take two panadol and try again in the morning.

Hmm. In the meantime, what are the best winter boots that will take a Speedplay Zero cleat?
-
• #620
My RW80s have Speedplay Zero cleats fitted. I presume you mean stock rather than modified though?
-
• #621
With or without an adaptor plate - doesn't the adapter allow them to work with all 3-bolt setups?
What's wrong with your current shoes? Are they the mtb ones?
-
• #622
Yep- I have MW80's, which I am very happy with, but have Zero's on the road bike now.
I'll probably end up with RW-80's, but noticed that the MW series had moved on by one- hence wondering if the road version had as well.

Lake CX145's - anyone spot a stockist?
-
• #625
They look awesome , but not for Speedplay cleats
In extremely heavy rain, very- stop anything getting through and my feet bone dry.
You do look a bit of a dork however.
