I still like the Pear Tree but we may no longer be welcome.

I agree, I think we have missed what was once offered.

Why not welcome at the Pear Tree? What's wrong with the Crabtree? What's the √ 60? Who shot the Sheriff? What am i doing with my life? Is my dick too small? How much are the burgers?

This. Clearly. Besides, what was written wasn't very nice.

what was said about the pear tree? i for one always gave it the vote for friendliness and decent grub
ship and crabtree have both provided notably poor food
has dazzler got a problem with us now?
agreed no place will be perfect, but we left the pear tree due to a vocal minority, when there were many of us who actually really liked the place

The Pear Tree doesn't have Niki Lauda's ears.

In pure mmcarthy style - this needs a power ballad.

Crabtree was good last week I think.
I drank some nice beer and had a good laugh, with a nice view of the river and plenty of bike space and a nice big communal picnic table.
And I had Meatpit for the first time in months and it was well scrummy...Since when did we all need to have a gourmet bloody gastro nonsense meal at Wests to be able to enjoy it?

there is something a little wrong about eating your own food in a pub.
its not that food has to be gastro pub style, but given the price differential between the willies, clits and bumb burgers at the ship/crabtree vs the burger at the peartree, i know where I would rather spend my money
wests is made by the people who attend, though it would be good to find a venue where we are actually welcomed and valued a little
at the greyhound the food was not high falutin' fayre, but it was cheap and made for us - in those halcyon days we were clearly valued, though things of course did change for the worse there
the ship just don't care about our custom, and the crabtree made it clear that we were not particularly welcome...

^This. I found the Crabtree to be prohibitively expensive - both for food and drink. Whilst on the telephone they appeared to be rather welcoming, when reality actually bit they were hardly there with open arms.
I understand that they are a business and need to always be aware of the bottom line etc, but the food I had wasn't great quality for the price I paid. I'm not perporting to be any kind of A. A. Gill but if you're going to charge top money then you have to be prepared to deliver the goods. The burger clearly wasn't it.
Morgasm wanted to order a desert and was told that because he wasn't in the restaurant(?!) they wouldn't be able to serve him.
Anyone fancy a mini tour de pubs?

I'm actually on my second can of 1664 right now.
- you are all welcome round my place w13 0an on Thursday. There is a lidl in greenford and a massive tesco on the a40, neither of which sell cold beers.

Shutup. Find a pub or Shutup. And if you edit another post with something 'hilarious' I'm going to eat your children.

if we have direk access to the garden, i'd be up for it
People will find something wrong with every venue.
no real ales
bad food
expensive food
too shady
too far west
no barmaids
hot barmaids that run cold
no wine
too posh
owner too death-threat-y
etc...
As venues all of the Wests pubs have not been perfect. It's about the people you hang out with and the good times you have.
It's what you make of the venue. Not the other way around.
