Any suggestions for bike storage for a bike with wide-ish handlebars? I've got hooks on my wall for hanging bikes that are about 220mm deep (two hooks, the bike sits horizontally, parallel to the wall). Fine for my road bike but attempting to hang a hybrid or MTB on there the bars are jammed against the wall at an angle and the wheel sticks out.
Just deeper hooks or any other bright suggestions?

Clug?

Cheers but the bike really needs to sit parallel to the wall which I don't think the clug does.
Thinking about it there's the pedal hook thing I can't remember which might work or that cylindrical thing (which I also can't remember the name of). Initial googling doesn't throw up the answers, need to think up some more refined search terms.

There are also some red painted similar ones I got from eBay that aren't quite as good but do the job

I have used one of these and it would be good for wide handlebars. I modified it a bit to work with drops and hold my bars closer to the wall. Unfortunately I didn't measure how wide it would suit before cutting.

You can also just stick little blocks behind the "hook" to act as spacers and pull the pedal closer to the wall, as road pedals and spds have quite exposed axles. Works well as standard with flat pedals (and Speedplay flat pedal adapters)

Cheers, much cheaper than the one I saw. Could be the solution once I've worked out fastening it to the wall (this is part prompted by the current hooks somehow pulling themselves out of the wall.
How hard is it to lift a bike to locate it in? It's going to be above my road bike so reasonably high up.

Comes with pretty beefy screws and wall plugs, but if there aren't bricks to drill into you might want to consider other mounting options.
I don't find it terribly difficult to lift bikes onto them, even my tourer, but I'm tall and I climb, so ymmv. Hardest part is making sure the cranks stay orientated. I lift with the seat tube and fork leg.
Also front-heavy bikes can tend to tip down, so I have a peg in the wall for the front tyre to rest on

This is for my girlfriend's bike and she's neither tall nor a climber. Will maybe need some test goes of her lifting the bike up.

Any carpet fitter will flog you an offcut/end of roll for not very much.

Using cardboard atm which is fine for me, and has been for the last 21 months but new flat new rules. I want to build a rack to hang the bikes vertically ideally.

Anyone in the market for one of these: http://road.cc/content/review/170150-gearup-oakrak-floor-ceiling-2-4-bike-rack ?
Just moved house and looking to pass mine on.

I could be interested, how much are you looking for?
How far out from the frame are the bikes held, is it possible to adjust so different bikes are at different depths? Cheers

Looking for some advice on home bike storage. I have just bought a house which doesn't have a garage and the other half has insisted bikes are not living in doors (despite my best efforts..). I currently have a secure garage at my folks place which has meant I've never had to worry too much about security. It looks as though a shed is going to be the solution, but am wanting something more sturdy than the kind of thing you'd chuck a mower and a few garden tools in.
Has anyone modified a 'standard' shed or got any hints for what to look for? Ive got about £1000 to spend. Things like alarms/door screamers, (given that a shed door wont necessarily be as sturdy as a house/garage door etc) does anyone use them?
- any shed inspiration? Ive got 5 bikes and would love a little workshop/bench setup if possible. Looking at around 4x5m or so..
You're thoughts are much appreciated! Cheers!

Ha, but you're everywhere with your tedious non-answers and sad pastiche of dated conformity based laddism.
