    Mal's Raleigh

  • TheBrick(Tommy) cut those bars down on the gt hippy nad you will save loads of storage space.

    I don't have a hacksaw.. :)

I want flat bars for it and I'll cut them down. These beasties I'll leave intact.

  • I have some flat bars that I can lend you, don't want to sell as I may need them back in a few months for a build I am planning. Complete with grips, I think they are about 40 ish cm wide a tad wider than most drops. I will prob be around polo tomorrow at some point or can meet you on monday as you head home.

  • Slightly wider than the drops on my coppi (which are wide for drops)

You don't see the rack in the photo but holds 5 bikes. Got it from Decathlon

  • Cheers Tommy.. unless hungover I wanna do a club ride tomorrow so won't be at polo. My LBS has flat bars for £15 which I'd not care about buying and cutting down.
Need to sort out the noise first.

  • Ceiling rather than a wall mount but if you've got ok height:

They're on ebay, dead cheap, search bike hoist. Not hyper easy to use, but a good 7/10.

  • guys,

I moved into my flat today. and my block even spoils us with bike
storage now. But its already packed with bikes in there so I intend to create
a prime spot for myself on the wall
Does anyone know where I can pick one of these / or similar up in London?

In Germany they are called 'pedal parker'. to me they are the most
functional wall mount. They are just brilliant !

    Thanks

  • They look nice, starr.
If you can't find any, you could just use shelf brackets minus the shelves, i spose.

yeah they are but how do I get bit out holds the pedal axle ?
I do not have the tools . Help anyone to rebuild me one for a fiver ?

  • i think you need a drill (i lost mine unfortunately).

  • I live in the tiniest pokey flat so there is no room for a bike to live inside. With my heavyweight commuter beast I have been leaving it in the (equally tiny) back yard under a tarpaulin. However, I'm about to take delivery of a bike that is a bit more 'special'. If I do the same and buy a full bike 'pyjama' (evans do a couple) am I risking any damage? If so, I might have to think again as to where I keep it...

no room for sheds or boxes...

  • Mr Bungle the thesp who doesn't want any tiny tire marks on the walls
on the way up the stairs. Pretty hard to avoid as there's barely enough room to get round the bannisters.

Shared stairs right? Tell him the marks are on less than half the walls so he'll just have to suck it up.

"I can't live like this - in this filth!"

Maybe you could suggest that he finds a new place to live if it's that bad. Or start shitting on the doorstep to show him what real filth is.

  • Does anyone have any experience with one of these racks:

It's looking like the best option to get a couple of bikes off the wall..

  • Looks good. I got some bike wall hooks in the end (£8 Condor) and they worked very well. Only issue is having to drill 4 holes for each. If drilling's out of the question, a stand is the best bet. And you can move it around.

  • Well, I'm renting and I've done enough damage to the place already :)
I'd rather not drill, hence the free-standing option. It looks like it'd fit the bill and could hold my two most expensive bikes away from the minging others. :)

  • i saw an option that was free standing ish, it was in the middle of the room, this doesn't really help tho
    it was on fgg

  • found something better hippy

it just looks to me like the other stand might be hard to use
also see what they have in shops, may be cheaper
    just an idea

    or something like this http://www.deltacycle.com/product.php?g=52

  • The pole one might work but I'm afraid that it'd have to be too far out into the room to miss the curtain rail and block the kitchen door.. and we certainly can't stop hippy accessing his kitchen now can we?

Similar problem with the second one but it's more to do with the top part of the rack having to rest on the glass, unless I can find a really tall version and even that would have to clear the curtain rail.

These fscking flats weren't made for bikes. If only I had a garage..
