First ride on the home-waxed chain. Sooooo quiet! Love it.

Personally, I found the wax gunked up in a week and became unforgivably slow / sticky. But it was pretty good for a couple of days. I quickly reverted back to GT85 dry lube, piss thin and have to re-apply every few days but it hasn't gunked up once.

Where? Did you wipe the excess off when it came out of the crockpot? There doesn't appear to be enough wax on my chain to build up anywhere but I guess time will tell.

I had a mechanic apply it. But, I found it was dirt and grit that was collecting on it. Could be absolutely fine, just sharing my experience.

Was it hot wax bath or was it something like Squirt wax lube? Because most of the reports I've read about Squirt talk about it building up like that.

Oh god, I forgot how intense simple things can get on this forum. Interested to see how you get on with that approach though, sounds like there's reasonable results.

A cyclist queueing in the taxi queue at King's Cross. I wonder how long he'd been there. Also someone riding a cargo bike with one of those 'platforms' seemingly made out of inner tubes and a dog sitting on it--no railings around the dog. To be fair, they weren't going fast.
