i actually saw the dude who rode off on it but i was feeling too anti-social to say anything. i had already done my bit for the cause that night explaining my bike to three americans as well as someone in the gig who came up to me having recognised me from spinning thru battersea each morning.

jonny
kowalski
jonny
carlitos spooted (not spotted) @ kingsland rd, heading norf, about 9.30 this mornin...
yellow (almost safety yellow) track frame, dude in near-matching yellow safety jersey, nice wheels and oh-so-quiet. strange thing was his seat tube - dont know who makes them, but theres a girl who i see around on - assumedly - the same make; the frame is monotone, while the seat tube has a contrasting color spiraling down it; in his case his was yellow with black detail (sweet!) and in hers, its pink with white detail.
any one know who makes thesa frames? is they custom?

Nice try, jaydubya. It was actually invented by Tony DaFonie, way back in the summer of 2007.
sorry to conjure up that man's name for you kowalski. you got plan G into action yet?
Indeed I have, jonny.I scored a CONdor frame at reduced price yesterday.
Would have had it on the road today but I couldn't get the Miche BB out of the Witcomb.
Barrie has somehow managed to get/jam a lockring on it....

Had a brief chat with Kipsy after a mad dash through Richmond Park on Tuesday evening.
And clocked a black Steamroller with race blades and a little mirror on the bullhorns along the Mall and through Admiralty Arch this morning.

Riding down Lillie Road in Hammersmith towards Old Brompton road (just passed the traffic lights between Lillie Road and Fulham Palace Road) and some cheeky mofo on a white genesis, a flyer I think, thought he would overtake me.
On my Brompton I swiftly picked up the cadence and overtook said cheeky rider. And then the bastard overtook me at South Ken tube because of the bloody red traffic light and a car in the way, stopping me jumping it. :(
If you're on here, you really need to sort out your chain tension. It was rather loose, you could see how slack it was from a mile off.
Ok, I know I'm riding a Brompton (no way am I leaving my fix outside my uni hall overnight in London) but that doesn't mean I'm some slow old fart. I'd like to think I'm pretty fast :)

"because of the bloody red traffic light"
"I'd like to think I'm pretty fast"
the lady doth protest too much, methinks.
i'll ignore the "i swiftly picked up my cadence" because that's the one thing bromptons can do. from nought to 8 mph in about 3 seconds, maxed out.
-
• #638
there's a place for these red light stories isn't there...
-

8mph maxed out? Err yeah.

can't think why he chose to overtake you.

Today i saw sarah (I was going into the old bailey as aidan (turd) ran gaily towards you), and aidan apparently saw muna too but i was too busy talking to someone. In fact aidan saw far too many people for 20 mins of walking! I think he knows every single fixed-wheel bike in central london.
Edmundane - it was just before the seven dials i think, as you were heading towards magma like a man possessed :). I like how you're still wearing the london bicycle film festival t-shirt! :)

were you found guilty?
-
• #643
Nope. We did here charges placed against someone who had allegedly murdered one man, then attempted to rape and murder a woman though. He pleaded not guilty. I didn't realise that courts are open to the public all the time, so you can go in whenever (the court is open) and listen to a case. We were lucky (?) in that both the cases we saw were rather serious/interesting. Or maybe unlucky is the word. It was pretty serious stuff!

You can find the proceedings for the Old Bailey trials from hundreds of years ago. Some of them have map references and stuff. Here's one from when Camden Town was jus' a little village with fields and cows.

Jane Cooper allegedly killed her new born bastard baby by wrapping her too tightly in a bundle of clothes.

It was pretty dull hearing about how regularly the other guy walked his dog (4 times a day?!). I think he was charged with owning illegal firearms. Or possibly murder with aforesaid illegal firearms.
