Slight derail, but a question: what ratio do you run? I really have to up the 48/18 gear on the Bob because I've been riding the Feather this week at 47/17 and it feels quite a lot quicker, and no more bother on the
hillsmild inclines like Pentonville Road. -

Good to spot Katie Coo briefly on the OKR tonight; apologies to the guy drafting me who I may've nearly taken out when I did a double take spotting her. I should wear a "do not follow; idiot" vest or something.
-
• #45508
I was having a dither and I'm not sure why my first reaction when you shot past me was to slow down in the middle of three lanes.
"do not follow, idiot": sounds like you're calling the drafter an idiot, which makes more sense m'dear -

-
• #45512
I gave a guy on New North Road (I think) a well odd look at about 8pm, trying to work out if his cap was forum or not. If it helps, he gave me the same odd look back.

South Beers? Haven't plucked up the courage yet- although I think SE beers would be closer (E&C based).
you should come along, to either or both. i look forward to judging you. i mean meeting you.
you've already met Phil, a true gent who spent the first few hours of 2012 in A+E on my account, having only met me that evening!
its always freezing in there !

When in my normal street ratio of 49x17 any push too hard and I get contact. So for the last week I have been running my track ratio of 49x15 on the street as I get contact less often (i guess its to do with how much torque the chain is under etc). Even with a ratio that big I still hit hills at the same speed and can be much quicker on the flat and I am tempted to stick with it.
I expect a typical forum out cry of Bad for your knees, yada yada yada anecdote about this and that.

Interesting, ta. I'll definitely try 48/17 for a bit. I have a friend who often runs 48/15 on his Fuji on the street, with MTB risers to yank it up the hills. I always thought he was nuts. He definitely loses something in acceleration though, never mind the hills. In stop-start traffic it must be a pain.
Anyway, back to the spotting.

Only on fridays do i really go through central london and I have now started taking the Euston road again (future spot possible) so I encounter very little stop start I am also still far faster off the line than anyone I come across on the street, including cars.

spotted a guy sitting on bishopsgate across from RBS in sidis this morning (8:45), but also with the sexiest bare ALL carbon track bike. Is it someone on here?! What bike is it? Bare carbon frame, matching stem, bars, integrated seat post on black rims and gatorskins.
-
• #45518
I think I spotted this guy on Shaftesbury a while ago did he have short carbon bulls?
-
• #45519
I got some pictures of a bike matching this description. Utter madness!
The handlebars were like obrees I think though
-
• #45520

(Down by city road / roseberry cut through thing) Guy commuting on a full carbon Colnago with carbon aero wheels, riding like he was in the last minutes of his own personal TDF tt. Fair enough. Bit ott for commuting, but you have a nice bike. Hello.
-
• #45522
love it! The only way to ride, and if you are gonna have a nice bike - thrash it.
-
• #45523
For sure. Difference between him and City type fools is that he wasn't in head to toe FDJ kit to complement it, thank god, and his bike was a bit grubby, also win.
-
• #45524
A lot more people in Assos today than I've noticed before. These suburban commuters got mad coin.
Also, a beautiful Colnago cross bike. Nom.
