    Word Of The Day

  • And I quoteth St.Crispin of the Glover

Spotted: just the usual motley crew of hapless, ignorant, inconsiderate and sometimes downright dangerous bicycle-users on the roads of London this morning.

    Amen to that

  • outside the Florance pub Herne hill nice yellow lo pro think it was a shop 14 creation yery nice.

melee word of the day i agree

  • Yeah I do if possible, other side of road FTW. But not always possible, unfortunately.

well yeah, but if there's a pack of nodders I'll definitely ride around to the front, don't want to get caught in the melee

  • I had more trouble with the wind this morning, a bin bag got wrapped around the non drive side of my fixed/fixed rear hub and I had to stop to pull it out, plastic bags, leaves and all kinds of other shit flying everywhere.

  • Am I missing something?

spotted isn't about the attractiveness or otherwise of who you spot, thats subjective from your part and has no bearing on what they look like to the rest of us, you could have just said, girl on x bike at x road at x time, describe distinguishing features of bike and them and leave it at that, rather than what you said below.

pretty girl on holborn viaduct EC1 just now. Blue fixed with flat bars and a black rear wheel with mudguards. Anyone on here?

which in the great scheme of things is a pretty poor description of the woman and the bike.

but hey ho, you live and learn.

Me, on Millbank, no traffic because of the Queen thing, literally being stopped dead in my tracks from rolling along at about 15mph by a gust of wind like a train, I had to laugh.

    I just pictured that.
    I just laughed also.

Agree with the first part, but it's hardly a "poor" description of the bike - all the poster seems to be lacking is brands - I wouldn't be able to spot the bloody brand of a hub at distance while travelling by bike - I prefer to look where I'm going. (Granted the poster later said he was in Starbucks) But my point being, how much of a pedant do you need to be to name each brand and model of bicycle componentry for the description to be elevated above "pretty poor" status?

  • Firstly, sorry for startling two girls cycling happily down the Great Dover St last night by shouting "Do a skid!"

Secondly, awful lot of RL Jumpers last night.
One almost got killed while trying to turn into Valance Rd (ignoring the red light). Mate, yes you with that brown leather jacket and blue deep-vs, if you are trying to jump two sets of red lights, make sure there's no fucking cars around.

Who was cycling on a yellow TT looking bike (Look?) yesterday evening on Commercial Rd?

Yellow TT looking bike, bullhorns and fixed brakeless?

Could well be Andypancake from Fixed Gear London he had a bike made for him from 14 that has aero tubing and bits all over it, resembling a TT bike in bright yellow, (I think it was matt yellow), other than that not sure.

The wind was mental this morning wasn't it!
I think if it wasn't for my immense mass I would have got blown all over the place on Tower Bridge, it certainly made me have to wrestle with the bike a bit!

  • I was properly wrestling to keep it straight at points.

On the subject of weather, I love bike shops on horrible days, they're really serene, and there's a sense of camaraderie among the hardcore who've made it out into the gloom.

  • I wouldn't normally bother 'spotting' a random bike but this one keeps reappearing and I'm developing a slight crush on it. It is a beautiful electric blue to white fade Simonelli track frame, with chrome seat stays and forks. Locked with a Fag mini in various places around UCL and environs...

  • i thought the wind was much milder than I had thought it would be....
didn't see no one though, probably because I ride from putney to central and then back out to chelsea.
    and left late today.

Count me probably somewhere amongst them lol

The weather was CrAzY today, i could barely pedal at some points! Plenty of people gave up and walked their bikes I saw.

  • Do people never use their drop bar?

  • Risers FTWL
