I think that noticing girls and being noticed by boys (and sometimes the reverse) is good. Its part of life. As long as it is done with tact and class.
Today spotted. A beautiful pink frame single speed with a lady on it. Also spotted the man in front of said pink frame do a 180 to chat to the lady on said frame. He was on a blue multi speed. She pulled forward in order to carry on a the pick-up even after the bicycle lane light went green.
Many appologies for interupting the love. I was lost and thought i was late. All done politely - good on all of us!

It is beyond a joke though. Every fucking time I'm spotted in this thread its by some gushing bint saying something like "Spotted this DREAMY chap, balding with pasty complexion on a white Schwinn, effortlessly carving through traffic at breakneck speed. Fuckin LOVE to tap that up"
Makes me sick every time it happens... which is loads.
Christ this made me laugh, spat tea onto my crotch (trying to avoid laptop). I don't think I've ever heard the phrase 'Gushing Bint' before, I wouldn't want to google it either

Spotted Dancing James on King St Hammersmith this AM. I shouted 'James!' he swerved, skidded and I swear looked like he would have done for me until he recognised who was shouting at him ;-)

I spotted a beautiful pink and chrome Santini single speed with a lady on it today, and I did a 180 on my silver/blue multi-speed to chat to said lady on said frame. She pulled forward to chat and we got hollered at when the lights changed. Lovely bike too; she said her friend had just built it for her. I wondered if it was someone on here who'd done it. Then she rode off into the city...
On Cable Street? Or just a coincidence?

Fatboyralph, last night in Camberwell, just before I forgot where Herne Hill was and led him on a merry tour of south east London. Sorry about that, Desi - utter direction fail by me, made all the more shameful by the fact it's my neck of the woods.

oh yeah, last night on coldharbour lane I spotted a chap in a rollapaluza jersey heading towards Brixton. I waved, you nodded. My instant thought was RPM but wasn't sure
It wasn't.
could have been gizmond, tt tom or any number of club members on their way to/from track I guess

To be honest, I dont know what "bint" means either but I know it means something derogatory about girls, and I've heard Cliveo say it so I assumed it was ok.
This is true.

Bint doesn't appear in the OED. It is a term used in London and means a woman. It is not derogatory although some take it to be. Curiously, although bint isn't in the OED, beaver is. Work that one out if you can.

Ha ha. Desi was telling me about that at HH, he wasn't happy about the hill you took him up.

Not sure if my quote thingy will work, but lets try again. Said holler was mine that interupted said mojo, many apologies. Though Sir TeeTee, that WAS a beautiful frame!!! So shiney and sparkily. And i did appreciate the interaction - i thought about it the whole way to work and felt bad that i had been so rude.
But that said process makes my point. I think boy-girl interactions shouldnt be frowned upon. BUT brutish behaviour should be discouraged.
If you ever have the chance to have someone pay you attention, it is a lovely thing and others should not be disapproving. Or spotted pretty girl on pretty bike (sorry pretty bike ridden by pretty girl). If its rude and derogatory - Annihilate them!!!BTW - its a pleasure seeing another member even if we are yet to meet.

With everythning in life, it's not what you mean but what the other party takes from what you say that matters. It is therefore in order to call someone you know well and know will not take offence a bint but not in order to call someone who might consider it a derogatory label a bint.

So it WAS you!
I think chatting to people at the lights is one of the pleasures of cycling. If I see someone on a bike I like I always tell them so. Partly because it's nice to receive compliments - I know I like it if anyone ever admires my bike - and partly because it explains why I'm staring at their legs. Admittedly, it also serves as an excuse to talk to pretty girls on pretty bikes, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
Anyway, yes, that girl's bike WAS beautiful. She caught me up at the next set of lights so we could have a bit more of a chat about it, but then she whizzed off into the morning traffic. I was left thinking about it for the rest of my journey too.
Don't worry Chainbreaker, I forgive you. Keep an eye out for me if you're ever lost round there again.

'Excuse me bint, can I have a pint of Adnams please' -

Young fixie-non-skidder cycling just off of carnaby street not 10 minutes ago. Blue BJ frame with red decals. Laden down with bags and cycling whilst sat on the top tube with one foot on the pedal (no retension tsk tsk) and one foot on the front tyre slowing himself down.
Either walk it or ride it sonny, no half measures ;)
