Just got back from Aldi.
First impressions are that some of the gear seems to be mediocre (personally I thought the softshell jacket was alright but not worth it in my opinion) while other stuff seemed to be cheap and cheerful (the cycling shirt/jacket seems to be of decent quality but unfortunately, I have no need for one). Got myself a set of cycling shorts at £7.99. Tried them on, went for a little ride and concluded that the fit is good, can't complain about quality and that the pad (which was really the only thing that I cared about) might be better than my relatively expensive altura pads. Gonna go back there and get a couple more.

I was there by 11 and a lot of the shorts and padded underwear had gone, was all I was after really. Found the last pair of medium boxers and got some compression shorts. That'll do me, the only padded thing I've got at the moment is for winter and my junk is bouncing around a bit too much during polo.

Chelmsford is obviously not a popular spot for bargain hunters as there are still plenty of shorts left (although I managed to grab all the Medium's I could find). Got some socks as well. At £2.99 seem to be fantastic.

Compression shorts is what I got, they seem alright. Junk is contained sat around, gonna test them out with BMXing and cider drinking in a bit.

got the arm warmers. tried them on in the shop. thank goodness I did, who knew that I'm an xl! (I'm not a big man at all)
Was really exited at the prospect of the panniers being decent. Unfortunately they looked shit.

Did anyone try the baggy shorts?

The chain cleaner is awesome. Got two: one for cleaning the other for lubing.

Panniers.

I got some of the brown shoes, comfortable as I went for a walk in them to feel for any annoying bits sticking in my feet. Need to get cleats(cleats on the way) for them.

After 2 days of intense riding and testing the shorts, I can, without a doubt say that they are certainly worth their value and probably more. No discomfort or any other issues. Brilliant!

Rechargeable Li-Ion battery (440mAh) for up to 90 minutes of video recording
I hope that's a typo and it's meant to be 4400mAh (i.e two 18650 cells in parallel)

took me embarrassingly long to work out what a chain rivet remover was, I wont be rushing to get that (i have it all anyway) tools from aldi are a bit hit and miss, if its something you might do once then not need again there fine. If its something you will be using regularly they tend to be a little too cheese.
Yeah I think so, next to the asda in town.
They've also got icebreaker merino base layers for about half price, maybe better, most sizes floating about
