the building where I live has a HUGE internal corridor, about 4 meters wide. Some people kept a few things in there, a little girls bike and some flower pots - then the council dudes came around and said anything still there a week later would be removed - fire hazard.

At my job in Melb.. I persuaded (nagged the fsck out of) my coworkers to the point where we had 5 bikes parked in our tiny entrance corridor!! Top shelf!

I forgot my lock one day, so quietly shouldered the bike and walked through the lobby of Canary Wharf, straight past security in the lift and up to the 22nd floor. No-one batted an eyelid.
Propped it up against my desk, my editor walked in, looked at me and raised and eyebrow and said "I didn't see anything"

i think i must have i lucky, one of my jobs leave it in the office, or i can lock up in a gated and bike racked covered area, only accessible with swipe card, my other empoyer just lets me keep it inside the doorway and i just put a lock through it, however its not attached to anything pointless i know but a visual deterrent.

Still, no one has said anything yet.. but they will.. oh you can bet your best porno that they will..It was the other way round for me. No one could have given a toss if my bike was in the staff room or not.
I'm thinking about getting a bike bag for my bike in halls at uni (Move tomorrow!). Then it wouldn't be a bike, but a very large, bike-shaped, suitcase! I think I'll go insane without my bike ...

Busted. Just got an email asking if the bike in the stairwell is mine.. and if it is, remove it.

Arsebiscuits. Ask them to find a suitable storage for you. Ask your union.

What about the bike racks in Vibe Bar?
-
• #71
(3) Exit routes must be free and unobstructed. No materials or equipment may be placed, either permanently or temporarily, within the exit route. The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. Stairs or a ramp must be provided where the exit route is not substantially level.
But the coat rack.. and cupboards are fine to stay..

brett.... that's low. No-one deserves that insult.

photoben What about the bike racks in Vibe Bar?
Apart from the obvious immediate theft of bike.. I'd never leave the bar!

get a bike rack thingy and bolt to wall off the ground?! then remove when you leave the company.
No bikes allowed in office (and not much room anyway). Plus, I'm not taking apart my bike every day! Waaaaay too lazy for that.
