  • Steerer poles so you can turn

  • A bandanna and an ironic haircut. Oh.

  • Not a big fan of gears, too much hassle, I like the burn...Any advice on stem, headset? Will I need a chain tensioner as this is a road frame and not track? I'm thinking classic racing style silver but also leaning towards riser bars and all black tyres + rims...

  • That frame so deserves some gears... Pleeeeeeaaaase!!! :(

  • dude. seriously. sell the frame to someone who can appreciate it properly. don't turn this into yet another stupid newbie 2007 hipster fixie. if you want a fixie, buy a track frame.

  • What are you actually asking Mr OP?

Kill that puppy, dont listen to these.

  • He's asking for build advice, we're giving it to him...

  • I still don't get people that don't know what to do with a build, when I buy a frame I know exactly what I'm gonna do with it...

Lame thing to do to this gorgeous and very rare frame...

  • first and foremost, you will need a rear mech. fixies = so last year.

That just about says it all. Listen to the wisdom you have been privileged to encounter

  • There's nothing wrong with putting fixed or singlespeed on an old road frame (apart from the inevitable hub spacing, bb axle/chainline faffing) but choice of parts and set up will incur disgust from some if you get it wrong...

  • Fair enough, all input much appreciated, I respect all advice given on this thread

Not really, but no point in getting all protective over an average, old road frame. That'll make a reasonable winter trainer.

I have a good initial idea of what I want to do with it but there's no harm in getting advice right?

  • Yeah, fit some gears.

  • Find a wheelset with a track hub (so you can fit a freewheel or fixed sprocket). You dont need a chain tensioner and the horizontal dropouts on your pretty frame will be adequate.

Any other info should be there if you gave a search a go.

  • Ignore us... Whatever you do with it I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun... Bloody gorgeous frame... :]

  • Looks powdercoated with decals stuck on afterwards...

  • Have you even made sure that the frame will fit you?

  • Yep, should fit just right. I've got a set of wheels with track hubs so am inclined to get this set up as a ss, it does merit a new set of wheels though so I might keep the current set for a beater/pub project

  • Note: This is my first project/build up, not my first ss/fixed gear bike! Which is why all advice prior to spending cash on parts is much appreciated

  • Just google Sheldon Brown, you'll find him to be quite useful for your first time round.
